Made famous by her debut film, Rockstar (2011), Nargis Fakhri opened up in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama about relationships and flirting in Bollywood.
Spotted by Imtiaz Ali in a jewelry advertisement, the then-model was reached out to for co-starring with Ranbir Kapoor for her first Bollywood film in 2011. Nargis sees herself as a “global citizen” as she was born in New York while her mother and father are from Czech and Pakistan, respectively.
After her debut, the 43-years-old actress has appeared in commercially successful Hindi comedy films such as Main Tera Hero (2014), Housefull 3 (2016) and Dhishoom (2016). She has also worked in Hollywood and Tollywood films including Spy (2014) and Saagasam (2016).
Most recently, the actress shared the screen with Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher in the film Shiv Shastri Balbao (2023). Her upcoming release this year is the Telugu movie Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
Nargis Fakhri on relationships in Bollywood
In the interview, Nargis was asked which Indian celebrity she would reach out to for relationship advice. “I mean.. tell me someone who has a good relationship”, the responded and laughed.
Nargis shared that there are no “good, loving relationships” in Bollywood even though it is made to seem like that to the audience. She shared that Bollywood marriages and relationships are much different in reality and everyone “hides the truth” because they “want to look perfect”.
The actress has worked with Bollywood stars including Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan.
She stated that instead of relying on Bollywood celebrities for advice, she would choose to rely on her own instincts or depend on a therapist.
Do Bollywood stars hit on Nargis Fakhri?
“Everyone hits on everyone”, the actress responded when asked whether or not the actress has been hit on by costars. She then added that this happens because human beings are “naturally flirty”. It might not be her costars’ intention to hit on each other, but they do so without consciously realizing it.
Nargis also shared that in the past she has been mistaken for flirting with costars and responded with, “bro, I’m just friendly”. She wondered if there were instances in which the roles were reversed and if her costars felt the same way.
Does Nargis Fakhri ever ghost her dates?
“I’m not a ghoster, I’m a Libra. We’re very nice people”, the actress shared, when asked if she has ever ghosted someone after a date. She said that she likes to be honest with her dates and lets them know if she does not think they are a good match.

The American actress shared that she dreams of working with Imtiaz Ali again.
The actress received mixed reviews for her performance in Rockstar and she has often shared that it was difficult for her to get used to a new country and a new language. To make matters more difficult, Deepika Padukone was initially meant to appear in the film but her sudden withdrawal from the project meant finding a new actress to fill the spot at the last moment.
Nargis added that Imtiaz made sure to create a space where she felt welcome and comfortable.
