Celebrated shooter Abhinav Bindra was in Paris for Olympics Opening Ceremony Torch Relay held on Wednesday.

The Uttarakhand born boy, was the youngest participant at the Commonwealth Games 1998 at the age of 15 years. He has won around 150 medals in his mind-blowing career of 22 years. The shooter has won 12 medals in his Olympics career, with 6 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze. His last Olympic award was the gold at Beijing 2008 in men’s 10m air rifle.
He has dedicated his life to shooting as his mainstream goal, but now, after endeavours in his excellence, he is a successful entrepreneur and has a non-charitable initiative named Abhinav Bindra Foundation, which helps sports aspirants with advanced athlete training and coaching for free of cost to encourage sportive participation in spite of financial difficulties.
He has also been a part of Target Olympic Podium (TOP), one of the most crucial policies in sports administration. He has received India’s most prestigious awards for outstanding performance in sports like Arjuna award as well as Major Dhyan Chand Award in 2000 and 2002 respectively. He was awarded with the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards, in 2009.
Olympics has the shooter with the Torch
Abhinav Bindra participated in 2024’s Paris Olympics Torch Relay for Opening ceremony. He informed his fans about his appearance in the relay with a post on X saying that he is very excited to be the torch bearer at the Olympics 2024 opening ceremony. He also added that the flame represents the true spirit of sportsmanship and power of dreams.
He will be getting the prestigious Olympic Order from International Olympic Committee (IOC) amid the 142nd IOC session in the next month. The board said in a letter offered to him that it is a great pleasure to award him with the Olympic order for his outstanding services to the Olympic movement.
He has posted photos on Instagram with him holding the torch in the relay with sheer happiness and honour on his face! He has captioned it as, “Carrying the Olympic flame yesterday in the Paris 2024 Torch Relay was an honour beyond words, the spirit of the Games lives in each of us, and I’m humbled to be a part of this incredible journey, let’s continue to inspire, dream, and achieve together!”
