The govt-backed E-commerce platform Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on Tuesday tied up with the Tech-giant Meta to support and educate small businesses. Meta aims to provide unique conversational buyer and seller experiences on WhatsApp.
Meta’s venture to digitally upskill 5 lakh small businesses
As a part of the collaboration, Mera joins the mission to digitally upskill the next 500,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in over two years. Also, Meta is committed to up-skilling 10 million small businesses across the nation.
Additionally, Meta will also be responsible to support Sahayak, ONDC’s own WhatsApp chatbot, in boosting up the service offered on the bot titled as ‘the single point of seller and customer communication’ for ONDC.
According to the Company statement, Meta Small Business Academy will offer certifications to empower entrepreneurs and marketers to broaden their digital marketing skills in the competitive environment to grow on meta apps.
ONDC’s Commitment towards providing seamless buyer seller experience
While Meta will be responsible for supervising digital and tech solutions, ONDC is expected to help the business solution providers become seller apps, bringing the businesses in service onto ONDC.
Given that India is going through a revolutionary digital transformation, ONDC will provide aid to the government’s vision for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and fulfil our ongoing commitment, according to the statement of Sandhya Devanathan, Vice President, Meta in India.
These collaborative efforts will propel growth for millions of small businesses by equipping them with appropriate digital marketing skills, as stated by T Koshy, MD and CEO of ONDC.
However, earlier this year Meta rolled out the ‘WhatsApp Se Vyapaar’ campaign to upskill 10 million traders from 29 states in around 11 Indian languages on the WhatsApp Business App.
