The Chief Minister assured that the ULFA(I)/Non-pro-talk ULFA too will be joining soon in the peace process and state government representatives are in contact with them. Sarma mentioned that the accord will amount worth of Rs 1.5 lakh crore investment to Assam.
‘New Beginning’ by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal:
Sonowal regarded the accord as ‘historic and monument of socioeconomic optimism for Assam’, “Peace with ULFA reaffirms ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ for a resurgent, peaceful and vibrant Assam,’’ asserted by the Minister of ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayusha. He believes that the accord will provide immense opportunities to Assam to harness avenues and fulfil pending issues.
He highlighted famous slowgan of Modi government ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ to usher a new era of development by accentuating peace accord. This will enable Bharat to achieve ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat by 2047’.
Ensuring rights of indigenous people:
Leaders of pro-talk group stressed upon fructifying economic-political rights of indigenous communities. As they have been targeting reservation for Assamese in state assembly. The recently delimitation process has assured the reservation. Presently out of 126 seats, 96 seats in the assembly will be preserved for local habitants.
They expect that the Government of India will consider the recommendations enlisted under peace agreement and will actualise in upcoming delimitation activity.
In order to implement it efficiently, leaders put forwarded parameters including rate of population growth, principles of historicity of areas, density of population, communications, physical features, geographical continuity and public convenience.
In nutshell, this is a monumental procedure in transforming a concrete road to choose peaceful resolution rather than engaging in fissiparous activities. This will send a clear signal to remaining insurgent lobbies to join the democratic table.
