‘Pippa’ Movie Review:  Remarkable performance by Mrunal Thakur and Ishaan Khattar

“Pippa”, a cinematic masterpiece that seamlessly weaves a mesmerizing narrative, exceptional performances, and breathtaking visuals is premiered on November 10 on OTT.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film Pippa is based on “The Burning Chaffees” written by the real life Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, the protagonist of the film. Ishan Khattar is seen playing the role of Balram Singh Mehta and ‘Pippa, is set in the time of Indo-China War of 1972 and the intervention of Indian military which ended up resulting in the formation of a free Bangladesh.

This war based film is a real life story of Captain Balram Singh Mehta of India’s 45 Cavalry Regiment who fought and served the country during the Indo- Pakistani war of 1971 along with his sibling Ram Singh Mehta. This movie is an adaptation of the real life events during the Pakistan and Bangladesh conflict. ‘Pippa’ is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by Ronnie Scrwvala and Sidharth Roy Kapur under the production house of RSVP Movies and Roy Kapur Films. This film stars Ishaan Khattar ( Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta), Mrunal Thakur(Radha Mehta) and Priyanshu Painyuli (Major Ram Mehta) and Soni Razdan ( Mrs Mehta) in the lead roles.

The music of the “Pippa” is composed by the renowned composer of all time, A.R. Rahman. The audience is loving the music of the film and appreciating it very much. The very first single of this film,  titled “Rampage” was released on November 6, 2023. The film consists of 5 tracks – ‘Rampage’, ‘Main Parwana’, ‘Jazbaat’, ‘Karar Oi Louho Kapat’, ‘Mohabbatein Shukriya’ 

The film is getting the recognition it deserved and if talking about the film reviews, according to the fans and their eyes the film is a great patriotic cinematic work of Radha Krishna Menon. “The film is all about sacrifice & India’s bravery . The director of this film  needs a big salute for dedicating  such a gigantic war movie relating to the successful 1971 battle against Pakistan for the liberation & birth of New Nation Bangladesh . This Movie would have been released on big Screens” , commented a fan. The film showcases the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 was a conflict between India and Pakistan that took place from December 3 to December 16, 1971. The war ultimately led to the creation of the independent nation of Bangladesh. The war began with preemptive airstrikes by the Pakistan Air Force on Indian airbases on December 3, 1971. In response, India launched a full-scale military intervention in support of the Bangladeshi independence movement. The Indian military achieved significant successes on both the eastern and western fronts.

The decisive turning point came in the eastern theater, where Indian forces conducted a swift and successful campaign that led to the surrender of Pakistani forces in East Pakistan on December 16, 1971. This event resulted in the creation of the independent state of Bangladesh. The conflict also strained Indo-Pakistani relations, and the two countries have faced ongoing challenges in their relationship since then. The war remains a crucial chapter in South Asian history and is remembered for its impact on the region.
