In a major step forward towards infrastructure development in Bihar, various development projects inaugurated and foundation stones to be laid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid foundation of multiple development projects around Rs.12,100 crores

Development Projects in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, On November 13, laid the foundation stone for AIIMS, Darbhanga in Bihar of over Rs.1,260 crores. The project will be a significant step towards providing and developing health infrastructure in the region.

It will include a super specialty hospital/ AYUSH block, a medical college, residential facilities etc., among other facilities. Tertiary health care facilities will be given to people of the state and nearby areas.

Prime Minister Modi while addressing the people, said that holistic approach is being adopted by the government with regard to health. He mentioned the focus areas of the government and said that the first focus area is prevention from diseases, the second focus area is proper diagnosis of ailment, third is availability of free or low cost treatment and medicines, fourth focus is to equip smaller towns with better medical facilities and fifth is expansion of technology in the health sector, the official statement released said.
Speaking about the government’s effort towards fighting cancer, he mentioned that the cancer facility being constructed at Muzaffarpur will benefit cancer patients.

Other infrastructure projects were also inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The projects in the rail and road sector to be inaugurated with a focus on connectivity. Foundation stones laid and inauguration of multiple national highway projects in Bihar around Rs.5,070 crores. The Prime Minister inaugurated the four lane Galgalia-Araria section of NH-327E and also two rail over bridges on NH-322 and NH-31 and a bridge on NH-110 at Bandhuganj.


The Prime Minister inaugrated 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at different railway stations in the country. The passengers at railway station will be able to avail medicines at affordable price. Jan Aushadi kendras will promote awareness about generic medicine and reduce expenditure on health care.

Different initiatives worth Rs.4,020 crore in the petroleum and natural gas sector of which the foundation stone laid.
In an initiative towards providing piped natural gas to households and clean energy options to commercial and industrial sectors the foundation stone laid for City gas distribution (CGD) network which will be for five districts of Bihar and the district includes Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi and Sheohar by Bharat Petroleum Corporation limited.
Furthermore, the foundation stone was also laid for the Bitumen manufacturing unit of Barauni refinery.
