UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he joined the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 in Gandhinagar.

On Wednesday, January 10th, PM Modi inaugurated the event, expressing gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for participating as the chief guest. This collaborative summit marks a significant moment, showcasing the strong ties between India and the UAE.

On Tuesday, as the President of the UAE landed in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi warmly greeted him, referring to Sheikh Nahyan as his “brother.” The arrival was marked by a ceremonial guard of honour. Sharing images of the welcome, PM Modi expressed, “Welcome to India, my dear brother, HH @MohamedBinZayed. It’s a privilege to host your visit.”

The pictures captured a strong bond between the two leaders, showcasing moments of genuine friendship. In these photos, the leaders were seen embracing and holding hands at the airport. One particularly memorable shot captured them engaged in conversation as they proceeded with the guard of honor for the visiting dignitary.

President Nahyan, during his Gujarat visit, shared photos and emphasized strengthening the close bond between India and the UAE. He expressed that discussions with PM Modi revolved around enhancing collaboration for economic growth and sustainable development. The President highlighted their meeting in Ahmedabad, underlining the ongoing flourishing partnership between the two nations. Their talks aimed to explore avenues that would foster cooperation for the well-being of both Indian and UAE citizens. The President’s social media post echoed the commitment to further solidify the enduring ties and promote mutual prosperity through collaborative efforts.

On Tuesday, Ahmedabad embraced the UAE President with enthusiasm during a splendid city roadshow. The two leaders, amidst the lively crowd, shared a warm connection. The UAE President expressed his gratitude, stating, “The people of Ahmedabad made me feel truly welcome.”

At the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Ahmedabad, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke warmly about India before abruptly departing for an emergency. His kind words acknowledged India’s hospitality, adding a positive touch to the event. However, the abrupt departure indicated the urgency of the situation he needed to attend to. The unexpected turn of events brought a mix of appreciation and concern, leaving the summit with a notable moment.

At the Summit, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the Chairman and CEO of DP World, announced plans to invest an additional $3 billion over the next three years. They aim to boost Gujarat’s economy by constructing a high-tech container terminal at Kandla Port with a 2 million container capacity. DP World is committed to fostering trade, jobs, and cultural ties between India and the UAE. The company has signed a significant MoU with the Gujarat government, emphasizing their dedication to the state and India. DP World is proud to collaborate for India’s logistics sector development and to support Gujarat and the entire country in producing globally competitive goods.

Positive Relations between India and UAE

Earlier today, PM Modi met leaders like UAE Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat. They all gathered for a group photo. Notably, India’s relations with the UAE have gotten stronger. PM Modi was the first Indian PM to visit the UAE in 34 years in 2015, and in 2017, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

In August 2019, Prime Minister Modi received the highest civilian honor from the UAE, the Order of Zayed. His trips to the UAE in 2022 and 2023 led to agreements on various worldwide matters. In September last year, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India for the G20 summit.
