At the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Ahmedabad, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke warmly about India before abruptly departing for an emergency. At the Summit, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the Chairman and CEO of DP World, announced plans to invest an additional $3 billion over the next three years. They aim to boost Gujarat’s economy by constructing a high-tech container terminal at Kandla Port with a 2 million container capacity. DP World is committed to fostering trade, jobs, and cultural ties between India and the UAE. The company has signed a significant MoU with the Gujarat government, emphasizing their dedication to the state and India. DP World is proud to collaborate for India’s logistics sector development and to support Gujarat and the entire country in producing globally competitive goods.
Positive Relations between India and UAE
Earlier today, PM Modi met leaders like UAE Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat. They all gathered for a group photo. Notably, India’s relations with the UAE have gotten stronger. PM Modi was the first Indian PM to visit the UAE in 34 years in 2015, and in 2017, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
In August 2019, Prime Minister Modi received the highest civilian honor from the UAE, the Order of Zayed. His trips to the UAE in 2022 and 2023 led to agreements on various worldwide matters. In September last year, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India for the G20 summit.
