On Thursday, 511 rural skill development centers were opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference in Maharashtra, honoring the memory of late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan. An official announcement states that 34 rural areas will host these centers when they are constructed.
The Kendras will offer job opportunities to rural youngsters by conducting skill development training programs in a variety of areas. About 100 youth will receive training in at least two vocational courses from each Kendra.

The National Skill Development Council’s affiliated organizations and industrial partners will offer the training.
The prime minister emphasized that the government recognized the importance of skill development and established a distinct ministry with several programs and its own budget. The Prime Minister announced that more than 1 crore 30 lakh youth had received training in various subjects through the Kaushal Vikas Scheme, and that hundreds of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras had been set up across the nation.
Shri Modi emphasized that the government’s focus on women’s education and training is a direct result of Savitri Bai Phule. More than 3 crore women have received specialized training through the Women Empowerment initiative, he said, citing self-help groups or “Swayam Sahayata Samuh” that offer instruction to women. He also mentioned educating women so they will feel more comfortable using drones in other industries and in the fields of agriculture.
