Prime Minister Narendra Modi may make a short visit to Ukraine next month in order to balance act between Russia and Ukraine, While a confirmation on his visit to Ukraine is still awaited, According to sources, the visit will be scheduled in the last week of August.
This visit has been planned after resentment took place in the Western world because of PM Modi’s visit to Moscow that took place earlier this month. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that PM Modi’s hug to Putin was not just a big disappointment but it was also moreover a destructive blow towards peaceful efforts.
The entire chaos was powered more by the fact that PM Modi chose to travel to Russia as his first bilateral visit since he came into power for the third term. However, this visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark history as it will be the first visit ever by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine.
Russia was reported to have bombed a children’s hospital in Kyiv on the same day when Modi landed in Kyiv. After this, President Zelenskyy made some remarks and the US also lifted up the concerns in the middle of the visit. PM Modi raised this issue of violence towards children the next day with Putin.
According to sources, the PM is most likely to visit Ukraine, Kyiv via Poland. One important thing to keep in view is that apart from China, India is the only major country that has not boycotted or criticized Russia specifically for its aggressive behaviour towards Ukraine. Many people see India as a Pro-russia in this war however India has made itself extremely clear since the beginning of the war that it wants to be able to reach to both the countries and promote the significance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve this conflict.
