Police Arrests MBA Holder and Engineering Grad for Fake Currency Printing

The city crime branch in Madhya Pradesh successfully arrested two youth on Tuesday morning for counterfeiting currency. During interrogation, the accused confessed that they were caught trying to run a market of fake currency, by printing fake 100 rupees notes using a color printer. 

A total of 45 fake notes of Rs 109 and material for printing notes have been seized from them. Crime Branch official, additional DCP (Crime) Shailendra Singh Chouhan said that on the information of a informer, 24-year-old Vikas Sahu and Vishal Sahu, resident of Chhola Mandir, were arrested. After searching, 45 fake notes of around Rs 100 each were recovered from both of them. The police confiscated these notes. 

Interrogation of the accused revealed that the accused were doing this act with the help of laptop and color printer. Later, they were trying to use this notes in vegetable market and grocery shop. Accused Vikas is a B. Tech Graduate and Vishal holds degree of MBA. Both the accused at present don’t have any criminal history. This was the first attempt by the accused to print the fake notes and circulate them in market.

The accused have told police that everyone checks the Rs 500 note at the time of transaction and no one checks the note of Rs 100 in hurry, hence they used to print oy Rs 100 note and then sell it in crowded place on in market areas. However, the police suspects that the accused have used fake notes earlier also, due to which both of them are still in police custody. It has also been revealed that the accused had learned to print fake notes through YouTube. 

Used to circulate fake currency in crowded place

It has been revealed during the interrogation that the suspects distributed counterfeit currency in a crowded area by taking advantage of crowd and darkness over there. The police are currently gathering information on the quantity of fake notes circulated within the span of two to three months. Vishal, who is physically disabled with one hand, got the idea of producing counterfeit currency after watching tutorials on YouTube. 

He is addicted to watching foreign movies and due to which he believed that if they release fake notes of Rs 100 in market, no one would be able to recognise them. They also had a plan to print and circulate the fake notes of Rs 500 after some time. Both the suspects are relatives of each other and among them Vishal initially used to do a job, which he left to find a job with better salary package. 

Both of them have accepted their crime and this duo has been arrested under the Section 489(A) and 489(B) of the IPC.

489 A: Counterfeiting bank notes or currency notes

Whoever engaged in a the act of counterfeiting, or knowingly participate in any aspect of the counterfeiting process, of any currency-note or bank-note, shall face severe consequences. They will be subjected to imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for a period of up to ten years, and will also be required to pay a fine. 

498 B: Using fake currency-note or bank-note as genuine

It is a criminal offence to engage in the sale, purchase, or receipt of counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes are forged or counterfeit, they will be subject to severe penalties. This includes imprisonment for life or for a term of up to ten years, along with the possibility of fines.
