Poonam Pandey, a controversial actress, died recently from cervical cancer. The entire country was shocked and paid a tribute to the actress.

But a day later, Poonam shocked everyone by posting a video claiming that she was still alive and had pulled the prank to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Her prank was not well received by many.Satyajeet Tambe, a Maharashtra MLC, has approached the police to take legal action against Poonam and send her to jail for playing with the sentiments of many people.

Poonam Pandey is a hugely popular social media figure who also appeared in a few Bollywood films. She first rose to prominence as a result of her controversial Twitter posts, now known as X. Poonam first rose to prominence when she offered to strip for the Indian cricket team if they won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Although she did not keep her promise, the incident catapulted her into the spotlight.

Poonam also appeared in a few Bollywood films, such as “Nasha” (2013) and “The Journey of Karma” (2018). Poonam Pandey appeared on reality shows such as “Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi” in 2011.

Poonam’s prank on Cervical Cancer

Poonam Pandey awoke the next day alive and well, despite having been declared dead. According to Pandey, the fake death stunt was an attempt to raise public awareness about cervical cancer. A day after her manager posted a grief note announcing Poonam’s death, the controversial actress released a video on social media clarifying that she staged her death to raise cancer awareness. Her promotional strategy has left everyone in awe. People, including celebrities, have spoken out against the actor for lying about her death.

The Legal Action

Satyajeet Tambe, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, demanded that Mumbai police take strict action against the model just hours after Poonam revealed she had faked her death. 

Awareness on Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer can be prevented through regular screening. Since the 1960s, screening has successfully prevented cervical cancer in the community. According to a 2016 study, subjects who received three annual screenings avoided 83% of non-localized cancers and 48% of stage I cancers compared to women who had not been screened in five years.

Women who attended screenings on a regular basis (a minimum of two screens at least ten months apart) had a 90% reduction in the odds of non-localised cervical cancer and a 57% reduction in the odds of stage I cervical cancer when compared to women who did not attend screenings for five years.

Cancer is a disease that has impacted countless individuals and families around the world. It has taken the lives of some of the most talented and well-known celebrities in the entertainment industry. Bollywood, India’s biggest film industry, is no exception. The deaths of these legends have left a void in the hearts of their fans, as well as the Indian film industry.

Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Nargis Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Feroz Khan, all left this world because they lost their fight to Cancer. There are other actors who are survivors of cancer, like Sonali Bendre. The ones who die, leave behind a legacy, the ones who survive, set an example for everyone that fighting cancer is not impossible, with proper treatment strong will, and advancement in the medical sciences, the battling with cancer has become much more possible, than it was in the earlier times.

A disease that eats you alive, where the body starts acting against you. Therefore to prevent cancer, awareness shall always  spread, and the campaigns shall be held everywhere.
