He further added ” I can’t wait to watch both movies on opening day.”
Salaar release withdrawn from South’s Multiplexes
Just 2 days before its release, a major development came regarding the release of Salaar- its production house – Hombale Productions withdrew the release from Inox PVR and Miraj Cinemas in the southern states over unfair trade of screening of SRK’s Dunki in the Northern belt. According to them, the agreement of getting 50-50 screening rights for the films was allegedly not being followed. “A lot of alleged back-and-push and manufactured rumors made single screens in North India favor showcasing ‘Dunki’ over ‘Salaar,'” a source says, “despite the consensus and agreement.”
Chakuve Gowda of Hombale Films stressed the importance of fairness in the industry and emphasized that they want the game to be fair. He stated that if exhibitors adjust the makers will release it in their outlets.
The CEO of Amit Sharma asserted that the decision of allotment of shows should be the exhibitor’s as they understand the pulse of the audience. They know viewers’ preferences and are best positioned to determine how films should be allocated. Dunki’s team expressed their view that they deserve priority as they were the first to announce. Dunki os distributed by Pen Marudhar and Salaar is distributed by Anil Thadani’s AA films.
