On Saturday night, The Rashtrapati Bhavan stated the appointment of six new governors and reshuffling of three others by President Droupadi Murmu. All these appointments and changes shall take effect from when the new appointees assume their respective offices.

Assam and Manipur
Lakshman Prasad Acharya has taken over the charge as Governor of Assam and further assumes additional charge as Governor of Manipur. He took over the post from Anusuiya Uikye, who had been serving as the governor of Manipur since February last year.
Punjab and Chandigarh
Gulab Chand Kataria replaces Banwarilal Purohit as Punjab Governor. Notably, the new governor would also be the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The appointment comes at a time when President Draupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from both posts.

Veteran BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur has been named as the new governor of Sikkim
Maharashtra
The present Governor of Jharkhand, C.P. Radhakrishnan, has been appointed as Governor of Maharashtra while Ramesh Bais will replace him as the Governor of Jharkhand. C. P. Radhakrishnan is also holding additional charge of Telangana.
Jharkhand
Santosh Kumar Gangwar, former Union Labour and Employment Minister, will replace C.P. Radhakrishnan to assume the charge as the Governor of Jharkhand.
Telangana
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma has taken charge as the Governor of Telangana.
Puducherry
K. Kailashnathan, a retired IAS officer and long-time confidant of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is appointed the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. He served since 2019 as Chief Principal Secretary to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He demitted from office on June 30.
Rajasthan
Senior BJP leader from Maharashtra Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde will take additional charge as the Governor of Rajasthan in place of Kalraj Mishra.
Chhattisgarh
Ramen Deka, former Lok Sabha member from Assam has been made the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Meghalaya
C.H. Vijayashankar, a former Lok Sabha member from Mysore in Karnataka will be the Governor of Meghalaya.
These appointments and reshuffles are to take effect from the dates the appointees assume the new roles.
