Prime Minister Narendra Modi Promote Peace In Austria: India gave “Buddha” not “Yuddha”

In his recent 2 days bilateral trip to Russia and Austria, after attending the 22nd India-Russia Summit. He paid his tribute to the “Tomb of Unknown Soldier” which is situated in Moscow and he also interacted with the Indian people living in the Russian territory. He praised the relation of India and Russia and remarked the relationship as an all-weather friendship.

He announced for the new Indian consulates Kazan and Ekaterinburg.  Modi was officially conferred the ‘Order of St Andrew the Apostle’ by President Putin, recognizing his contributions to fostering bilateral ties. Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to bring peaceful solution for the crisis.

Visit to Austria

After Russia, PM Modi headed to Austria in what is the first visit to the nation by an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years. He received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community upon arrival in Vienna.

Prime Minister Modi met the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and held talks with the Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Both the Prime Minister and Chancellor also addressed business leaders from India and Australia which will lead to more investments and growth in the economic sector for both of the countries.

Key Outcomes of the Meet

  • India and Russia decided to go ahead with a bilateral payment system using national currencies to boost trade and economic ties. They set a target of $100 billion in annual trade volume by 2030.
  • The two countries inked nine MoUs and agreements on several areas, including trade, climate, research, energy, agriculture, infrastructure and cooperation in the Russian Far East and Arctic region.
  • Russia agreed for an early return of Indians who are working as a supports staff in the Russian Military in their war against Ukraine after this tpic was put forward by our Prime Minister
  • Prime Minster also stressed that there is “no solution on the battlefield” in the context of Russia-Ukraine conflict and told that peace and dialogue is the only way to solve this matter.

India: Land of Buddha not Yuddha

During his visit to Austria, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised that the historical role of India has always been a peace promoting country. He highlighted that from centuries India has been sharing knowledge and expertise with the world which focuses on peace and prosperity rather than war. He added that we as an Indian can proudly say that India has given Buddha and not Yuddha to the world and by Buddha he means peace and properity. Buddha is considered as a symbol of peace and calm and the emergence of the sect renounced by Buddha took place in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. He addresses the Indians to take pride in the extraordinarily advance culture India have.

During his speech at a community event in the Vienna, he held pride in describing India’s role as the global partner( Vishwa Bandhu). He also told that by the 100th year of India’s independence that’ll mark by the year 2047, India will have a place in World’s top three Economy.

He also talked about the historic trade relation with the Austrian community and about the culture that we share. He said that public participation is very necessary alongside the government efforts to deepen the international relations.
