Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a momentous visit to Poland, strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering international collaboration.
On Wednesday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history by becoming the first Indian prime minister in 45 years since Morarji Desai to set foot on Polish soil, marking a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Poland is a historic event, marking the first time an Indian Prime Minister has traveled to the nation in nearly a half-century. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is set to engage in important discussions with President Andrzej Sebastian Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, to enhance the relationship between India and Poland.
The visit has sparked tremendous excitement among the Indian community in Poland, particularly in Lodz.

The Prime Minister visited the memorial and paid tribute to Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, a former Maharaja of Nawanagar (now Jamnagar), by laying a wreath. This ceremony took place shortly after his arrival in Poland.
MEA Secretary Tanmay Lal announced that the Prime Minister was greeted with a grand ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the airport in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Lal emphasized the profound historical significance of the visit, highlighting the enduring bond between the two nations. Additionally, it was mentioned that during his visit, PM Modi will engage in discussions with the leaders of Poland, connect with the Indian community, and partake in another ceremonial welcome in Warsaw before continuing onward to Ukraine.
During a recent visit, European Parliament member Dariusz Jonski emphasized the significance of the visit in strengthening both political and business relationships. He pointed out that Poland is particularly interested in discussing healthcare, citing the country’s urgent need for 25,000 doctors and specialists. Additionally, there are opportunities for collaboration in the IT sector with Indian companies. Jonski stressed that Prime Minister Modi’s visit would enhance the bilateral ties between the two nations.
Ukraine visit
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, where he will engage with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss potential pathways to resolving the ongoing conflict in the country. This visit is historic as Modi will be the first Indian leader to visit Ukraine in approximately three decades.
According to MEA Secretary Tanmay Lal, India maintains significant and independent relationships with both Russia and Ukraine, each of which holds its own value. This visit is seen as a delicate balancing act for India, which provides an opportunity to encourage peace negotiations while navigating the complexities of Indian diplomacy.
