Rafah Border Crossing hit by a Military Strike

0

There are reports that a military strike impacted the vicinity near the Rafah Border Crossing. The targeted crossing is situated between Egypt and the obstructed Gaza Strip.

On the line separating Gaza from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula is Rafah. It constitutes the southernmost exit from Gaza, according to the BBC.

When did the Strike take place

Hundreds of Palestinians had gathered in the region at the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the blockaded Gaza Strip when a military attack occurred, according to AFP correspondents.

After Gaza-based Hamas assaulted southern Israel on the seventh of October that started an all-out war, the area of the closed border point in the southern part of Gaza had been struck no fewer than three times within the past week by Israeli aerial strikes.

The only way for Palestinians to escape the “total siege” and Israeli bombardment of Gaza is by passing the Rafah border towards Egypt.

Claims of a ceasefire which would let Palestinians flee to Egypt have been rejected by Israel.

After Hamas militants crossed the strongly guarded border and killed over 1,400 people by shooting, stabbing, and arson, the Israeli force launched its deadly bombing.

According to health professionals in the region, roughly 2,750 individuals have died in Gaza as a result of the retaliations. Most of the casualties have been civilians on both sides.

Since Israel began an intensive bombing and blockade in reprisal for a strike by the militant Islamist group Hamas, over two million individuals in Gaza are under siege.

Relief Team being sent to the Rafah Border Crossing

According to humanitarian officials, relief convoys that had been waiting for days in Egypt started making their way Tuesday heading towards the Rafah border crossing to the beleaguered Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

Since the Islamist group Hamas, which rules Gaza, began its murderous assault on Israel on October 7, the blockaded region has been continuously bombarded by Israel.

Since Israel has regularly attacked the Palestinian side of the border crossing, Egypt has so far prevented help from entering or foreign nationals from trying to evacuate by keeping the Rafah crossing closed.

The Sinai Peninsula in Egypt has been receiving increasing amounts of aid over the past several days from a variety of organizations and donor nations, all in response to growing pressure on Israel to create a secure entryway towards the territory known as Gaza. United Nations organizations have started storing life-saving supplies like food and medications.

For the 2.4 million residents of Gaza, a region a majority of whom have been evicted from their homes, the European Union has demanded the establishment of a humanitarian bridge.

Israel Prime Minister’s Response

Israeli’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed the country’s will to destroy Hamas and expressed appreciation for the nation’s tenacity and cohesion. The nation’s support for front-line soldiers and the nation’s solidarity were emphasized by PM Netanyahu, who also portrayed a resolute and uncompromising position against the brutal attacks by Hamas.

There have been numerous reported deaths and injuries from both sides of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, needing immediate humanitarian relief and peace attempts. In planning for a ground invasion, the Israeli military is gathering armored vehicles near Gaza.

Israel claims that in retribution for the bombings on October 6 that ended up leaving 1,400 Israelis murdered and hundreds kidnapped, it is hitting back at Hamas and focusing on its agents and organizational centers.

The United Nations reports that since Israel started its bombardment operation targeting the Palestinian group Hamas, over a million residents in the north Gaza Strip have been evicted from their homes.
