Rahul Gandhi has confirmed in a post on twitter that ED is planning a raid against him. According to Gandhi, some ‘insiders’ have informed him about the planning and Rahul Gandhi in the response says that he is waiting with open arms.
“Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech and are planning ED raid.”- Gandhi says. In a humorous response he posted ‘Chai and biscuits on me.’
This comes after the speech he gave on Monday, 29 July 2024 in parliament monsoon session.
About Rahul Ghandhi’s Chakravyuh speech
On Monday, leader of the opposition gave a speech targeting BJP government that had certain backlashes. The speech used the term ‘Chakravyuh’ which means a trap.
According to Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi was making a chakravyuh for citizens of India and ultimately everyone will fall into it.
To justify his speech, he gave the example of Mahabharata. He told how years ago Abhimanyu was trapped by six people in a similar trap and he died. He cited that chkravyuh also means a ‘padmavyuh’ meaning a lotus formation. Thus, he was signaling to the party symbol of BJP, lotus. Rahul Ghandhi targeted BJP’s symbol by alleging the government of forming a trap against them and ultimately hampering their development.
He declared that similarly six people in contemporary world were plotting against the youth and farmers of the country including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Ambani and Adani.
The opposition leader says that farmers. Workers and youth of India are being targeted and middle class is being ‘sandwiched’ in between. “Ultimately, the working class will collapse in the ckaravyuh just like Abhimanyu did”- Ghandhi added.
Citing the same example he added how three things have been captured by ruling party- the idea of monopoly capital, concentration of fiscal power and the institutions like CBI. ED, IT and Political Executive.
During the speech he also questioned why the issue of paper leaks was always ignored in parliamentary session. He gave the statistics which suggested that 70 such cases of paper leaks were recorded in a single decade. Ghandhi says that this is the biggest issue affecting youth in India but still is not given importance. Gandhi specially talked for the Agniveer who were prone to getting destroyed due to the chakravyuh by BJP.
In this regard he commented on the budget by comparing it to ‘halwa’. The monsoon session that commenced on 22 July 2024 is set to end on 12 August.
BJP’s reply to the speech
Following the speech, BJP Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur took a dig at Rahul Ghandhi’ allegations by calling him an ‘Accidental Hindu’ with ‘Accidental Knowledge’.
The MP in response says that Congress has plotted many such Chkravyuhs for the nation, one being the party itself for dividing the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this reponse posted on X and applauded Mr. Anurag Thakur for the reply. He said the speech by Gandhi was a ‘mix of facts and humor’.
The background of budget related arguments
The arguments and allegations against the opposition and ruling party continues since 22 July when the Budget 2024 was presented in parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman.
The Congress since has protested against the ‘Kursi Bcahao’ Budget as they call it. On 24 July a protest was organized outside the parliament as many states feel they have been neglected in the recent budget and certain biasness has been shown towards the BJP ruled states.
While the BJP led NDA has been constantly defending the allegations on the new budget and fiscal policy the opposition is constantly throwing allegations and taking a jibe against the ruling party.
