Rahul Gandhi choose Rai Bareli over Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be taking up the Wayanad seat and will be making her electoral debut.
Introduction
Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday announced that Rahul Gandhi will be stepping down from the Wayanad Seat and will go ahead with Rae Bareli, preserving his family’s stronghold while his sister Congress leader, Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad making her electoral debut.
Gandhi won both the seats in the recently held Lok Sabha elections though our nation allows a person to contest from two constituencies but as the end rule clamours to have only one seat, so he went ahead and retained the Rae Bareli seat. Priyanka Gandhi has not contested in elections previously though she has been an active member in campaigning for her family and other party members, this is going to be her electoral debut.

Rahul Gandhi stated that it was indeed a hard decision for him because Rae Bareli has been a homeland for him because of the ancestral success and emotional connect with the people of the place. He also old how he people helped him in his tough times and also told how he is certain about his sister winning the seat and he stated will be visiting the place and the people there can think that they have two people serving them.

Reacting to the same Priyanka Gandhi said that she will ensure that people of Wayanad don’t feel his absence and will work hard to make the people happy. She also stated that how both of them will help each other in Rae Bareli and Wayanad.
BJP’s reaction
Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP leader arraigned Congress for not being a party and operates more like a family business, Suggesting how Sonia Gandhi has entered the Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi won a Lok Sabha seat while Priyanka Gandhi too is given a seat in Lok Sabha. He stated that the his victory in Rae Barile heavily depends on the support from the Samajwadi Party which indirectly took a dig at his capability and their lack of confidence on him to win a by-election independently and on their hesitance which can also threaten a second victory.
He also pointed out at the discrimination of the family between the son and daughter on how the political legacy will always be with the son stating it as the company of the family.
Reacting to the same, Indian Union Muslim league national general secretary Mr. P.K. Kunhalikutty said that it was a good political decision from their end and is getting wider acceptance rubbishing the baseless criticism by the people stating that it would strengthen India’s front, he also commented on how this is not going to be easy for BJP.
If Priyanka Gandhi wins the election she will be entering the parliament as the MP and it will also be the first time the all the three members of the family will be in the parliament. Additionally the Nehru-Gandhi family has long standing history of the emotional ties with the seat in Rae Bareli as it has been their homeland.
