Rahul Gandhi Takes A Dig At PM Modi For His Recent ‘Sent By God’ Remark

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi posted a short video on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). In the clip, the Congress Member of Parliament representing Wayanad poked fun at Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi’s comment about not being ‘born biologically’. Gandhi remarked that if an average person had said something like that, they would probably be advised to see a psychiatrist.

Rahul Gandhi mentioned that while there were disturbing scenes of bodies appearing on the banks of the Ganges, the Prime Minister, whom some call the “messenger of god”, was urging people to switch on their mobile phone flashlights. This was about Modi’s call for citizens to light lamps or torches during the initial stage of the COVID-19 lockdown as a symbol of solidarity in battling the virus.

This was regarding the Prime Minister’s recent interview. During an interview with News 18, PM Modi shared that he used to believe he was born biologically while his mother was alive. However, after her passing, reflecting on his life experiences, he feels convinced that he was sent by God. He believes the strength he possesses isn’t just physical but has been granted to him by a higher power. Modi expressed that he sees himself as an instrument of God, endowed with abilities, strength, purity, and inspiration to carry out his responsibilities.

During an election rally, Rahul Gandhi responded to this by saying that Kanhaiya Kumar possesses extensive knowledge of various subjects. However, even if Kumar were to disclose to him that he believes he wasn’t born biologically and was sent by God, Gandhi said he would tell him not to reveal it to anyone, not even accidentally. Gandhi contrasted this with the Prime Minister’s open statement about not being born biologically, emphasizing that while Modi claims he isn’t biological, he refers to everyone else as biological.

Rahul Gandhi also pointed out how strange it is that someone who claims to be a ‘messenger of god’ seems to be working mainly for the benefit of just 22 people. He criticized PM Modi for seeming to prioritize the interests of big business players like Ambani and Adani. According to Gandhi, while Modi is handing over significant national assets like railways, ports, and airports to Adani, he’s neglecting the basic needs of ordinary citizens. This includes things like helping out with loan waivers, improving infrastructure such as roads and hospitals, and investing in education.

He also argued that the BJP has long harbored intentions of disregarding and discarding the Constitution. He emphasized that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are crucial for protecting it. He accused the BJP of consistently showing disdain for the Constitution and the national flag, asserting that they now openly admit their desire to alter it.

The Congress leader emphasized that this election is about protecting the Indian Constitution. He highlighted that it’s more than just a book; it embodies the ideological legacy of Gandhi, Ambedkar, and Nehru ji, spanning thousands of years.

Delhi went on voting today, marking this as the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The next phase will be held on 1st June.
