Amid the backlash received by the Yogi Gov’t regarding the Kanwar Yatra’s ‘Nameplate order’, Yoga guru Ramdev baba has commented in the favor of the order, says there’s no harm in doing it..

Yogi’s “Name Plate Order”

Kanwar Yatra is to begin from 22nd July, Monday and conclude by 6th of August. This devotion filled trip is from Gangotri to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Uttarakhand. On 15th July, Muzzafarnagar Police in UP ordered all the shops, eateries and general stores which are along the Kanwar Yatra route for better communication and for the convenience of the tourists. The order was first a softened version calling out voluntary participation of the vendors, but then the extended order included strict compliance of the instructions.

An UP gov’t official said that the directive is issued by the CM so as to not cause any sort of hindrance to the Hindu travelers during the procession and make the work of administration easier. These orders are to be followed in areas of Shamli and Saharanpur as well. This directive is to avoid the confusion in terms of food security and is said to have been posed due to no formal action on the “halal food seal” order issued earlier by the gov’t.

Ramdev baba’s reaction, opposition slams

Ramdev baba has backed the orders and claimed to feel free and proud about their names to be displayed on shops. He asked that if he as Ramdev has no problem in revealing his identity, then why Rehman has any problem with it. Mayor of Ujjain has said that those who don’t display their names during the Yatra will have to pay a fine of Rs.2,000 and repetition will increase the pay to Rs.5,000.

Owaisi, president of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has expressed fear of growing hatred about Muslims in India. He has also shared words about it in a post on X. Rashtriya Janata al (RJD) Jayant Chaudhary has commented on the order negatively and has asked the gov’t to withdraw it immediately. Politicians like Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Aap Aadmi Party member Sanjay Singh have exhibited their sheer oppose about the orders.
