Ranbir Kapoor and the Kapoor clan have a police complaint filed against them in regard to their actions during the infamous “Kapoor family Christmas brunch” celebrated a few days ago.
The whole family gathered around to celebrate Christmas together and as a few clips surfaced of the family’s private celebrations, fans were quick to notice that Ranbir Kapoor made a “joke” that could have hurt a few religious sentiments.
In the video going viral, the whole Kapoor family is seen sitting around the table with a cake and other food spread out in front of them, a man pours alcohol over the cake and Ranbir Kapoor is heard saying the phrase “Jai Mata Di” before he uses the lighter on the cake to set it on fire. His comment makes everyone around the table laugh and no one is seen paying to much attention to an offhanded funny statement. There were some people, who after the video came out felt triggered and hurt by his comment.
There has been a complaint lodged at the Ghatkopar Police station in Mumbai in regards to the same, yet there is no First Information Report (FIR) lodged in regards to the case yet. The complainant, a man named, Sanjay Tiwari, filed the complaint through his lawyers Pankaj Mishra and Asish Rai, stating that the fire god is a Hindu deity invoked during festivities before any other deities and Ranbir Kapoor and his family using alcohol to celebrate a different religious festival all while mocking another religion, has hurt many religious sentiments. The complainant demands that an FIR be registered against the family under IPC Sections 295, 509 and 34 for alleged insult. This type of action as shown in the video has hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant and the Sanatan Dharma. The aim of this video is to hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant.
Setting the cake on fire followed by the chant of “Jai Mata Di” hurt his religious sentiments. The video that was circulated was first shared by the entertainment magazine’s page, Filmfare shared the clip from the family lunch where the man is seen pouring liquor out of a bottle onto the cake as Ranbir, who is seated next to his wife Alia Bhatt is seen chanting “Jai Mata Di” as the room erupts in laughter.
The post was captioned “Rabbit brought everyone to laughter with his ‘Jai Mata Di’ cheer while lighting up the cake during the Kapoor family’s Christmas lunch” was the caption of the post on the entertainment magazine’s page.
The Kapoor family Christmas lunch was a monumental celebration as the new parents Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt introduced their daughter Raha to the public for the very first time after keeping her identity private for almost a year. The other Kapoor family members and relatives were also in attendance along with Ranbir Kapoor and his family. Karishma Kapoor shared some pictures from the family lunch and celebrities and members of the family were all in attendance. The Nanda siblings Agastya and Navya were present as well as Adar Jain and his new lady love, whereas Karishma’s kids and parents Randhir and Babita Kapoor were also in attendance.
