Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Rashid Khan tied the spousal knot as he married on October 3. Rashid’s marriage took place in Afghanistan‘s capital, Kabul accompanying the videos of his special day and taking social media by storm. The Afghan star, who is widely lauded as the No. 1 T20 spinner in the world, had marriage grasped in accordance with Pashtun customs.
Many cricketers from the Afghanistan national cricket team accompanied his marriage. The CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Naseeb Khan, former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi, and young Turks such as Azmatullah Omarzai, Najibullah Zadran, Rahmat Shah, and Mujeeb Ur Rehman accompanied the marriage celebrations.

Apart from Rashid, his three brothers Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan too got wedded in a dignified ritual in Kabul. Afghan Atalan, a supporter of Afghan cricket, tweeted, “Rashid Khan and his three brothers got married on the same day. Wishing him and his brothers a happy and healthy life ahead.” The etiquette was organised at the Imperial Continental Hotel in Kabul and was accompanied by the top brass of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Mohammad Nabi, a veteran of the Afghanistan team, was one of the first to extend his greetings. He posted on X, “Congratulations to the one and only King Khan, Rashid Khan, on your wedding! Wishing you a lifetime of love, happiness, and success ahead.” Wazhma Ayoubi, a prominent Afghan social media personality, also congratulated Rashid, writing, “Black is the ultimate style statement. Congratulations Mr. Magician.”
Rashid Khan’s legendary career
Rashid has been Afghanistan’s most prolific match-winner and has existed so regularly across formats since making his international debut way back in 2015. He has 152 wickets to his name in T20Is and too has captured 190 wickets in the ODI format. Having featured in just five Tests, the star leg-spinner has 34 scalps under his belt.
He was captain of Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and the team made it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Rashid has also contributed with the bat. The 26-year-old is also known for his exploits in league cricket, playing a key role in various franchises around the world.
For the 2024 season, he has been retained for the same amount, making him the highest-paid player in the Gujarat Titans squad. Since his IPL debut, Rashid has accumulated earnings of INR 85 crore. Rashid plays for the Gujarat Titans, and the franchise is likely to retain him for IPL 2025. He is a match-winner in the cash-rich league and has an impressive track record for his former team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the current Team GT.
Afghanistan is currently in India for their individual off-test against New Zealand, which was entirely exhausted on account of determined rain in Greater Noida.
