While she and her brother were incarcerated in Byculla Jail, Rhea’s friends stood by her family. Rhea shared an anecdote that revealed how, even in such dark moments, her friends found ways to help her parents feel more normal.
Rhea Chakraborty’s Surprising Revelation After Release
Upon being released from jail, Rhea noticed something unexpected: her parents, along with her friends, had gained weight. Curiosity got the better of her, and she asked them how that had happened. Laughing at the memory, she recalled that her friends had been visiting her parents every night, sharing meals and drinks with them.
One of her close friends, along with their partner, had been making regular visits to her home. “They used to drink with my dad and eat food with them every night while we were inside. When I came out, I was like, ‘Why have you gained so much weight? Kameeno, main waha jail mein thi aur tumlog yaha khana khaa rahe ho, weight put on kar rahe ho (I was in jail, and you were here eating and putting on weight),’” Rhea said, with humour.
Their response was touching. They explained that they were simply trying to make her parents feel a sense of normalcy in such an abnormal situation. It was a small gesture that left a lasting impact on Rhea.
Gratitude for Loyal Friends
Rhea spoke highly of her close circle of friends, particularly highlighting the support of her female friends. She credited them with helping her through one of the toughest periods of her life.
“I was surrounded by superpowers of women,” she explained. “Some of my girlfriends – the way they stood by me – my God! You don’t need anything else – you can have one true friend in life, and that’s enough.”
One of the key people she mentioned was Shibani Dandekar, who had been a constant source of strength for Rhea throughout the ordeal. “The way Shibani stood for me was enough for me to know that the whole world can be against me, but I have one friend,” Rhea expressed, clearly moved by the unwavering loyalty she received.
