Richa Chadha says being honored by Consul General of France is a ‘recognition’

Bollywood actress Richa Chadha is all set to receive accolades and recognition for her contribution to the field of Arts. She is to be honored with  the  Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ award by the French government. The award shall be given by the Consul General of France in Mumbai at the MAMI festival.

Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet , the Consul General of France will be present at the Jio MAMI International film festival and will be honoring the talented actress with the award. The festival is set to begin on the 27th of October.

Masaan was a film that was critically acclaimed in the year 2015 and was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival the same year. It was an Indo-French Production and was screened at the UN Regard section as well. 

Moreover, Richa Chadha’s first home production ‘Girls will be Girls’, also received two awards ,namely the French grant Aide aux Cinemas du Monde’ (ACM) and new incentives introduced by the Indian authorities.

Sere-Charlet acknowledged the same and mentioned that he is pleased to  honor the actress as it symbolizes the Indo-French collaboration.

The actress was elated over the same and stated that it was indeed an honor and she is privileged to be awarded for her contributions to Indian cinema and that she was happy to be esteemed amongst superstars as Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai.

She also added that the award symbolizes the power of storytelling in Indian cinema and its capacity to bridge different cultures and people. She also expressed on her journey being a roller coaster ride in the Indian film Industry that has made her the person she is. She has had her own bag of experiences, Invaluable lessons and upheavals that have brought her this far in an amazing way.

She thanked her family, her friends, her team members of the films and all those who believed in her potential of becoming an actress. She said that the award is not just a personal achievement but a collective effort of all those who believed in her and stood by her in testing times. The award ,she says, is not just an achievement but it also symbolizes and means the magnanimity of Indian cinema globally and how beautifully it can merge the diversity.

Sr- Charlet mentioned that the Jio MAMI award function is an opportune moment for them as it will also showcase Rendez-vous with French Cinema’ that is a line-up of 12 French films. The International film festival will also mark the presence of ten film professionals from France. 

Richa Chadha was recently seen in the ‘Fukrey 3’ , the third instalment of Fukrey franchise and a sequel to Fukrey Returns , directed by Mrighdeep Lamba and produced by Farhan Akhtar. Richa Chadha portrayed the character of Bholi Punjaban for which she was awarded with the Best actress title in the first film.

Eventually she continued portraying the same character due to its world wide fame and likability by the audiences who simply loved the character. Richa Chadha initially began her career as a model and ventured into theatre plays.

She later got a break into movies like Gangs of Wasseypur and Oye lucky lucky Oye.  Initially she managed to do smaller roles but bagged the lead role in Gangs of Wasseypur and enthralled the audiences with her outstanding performance and acting skills.

She stated that she is extremely happy and thankful to receive the award and looking forward to doing more of such good work and delivering stellar performances in upcoming films.
