The Hollywood favorite, “Intern”: Robert De Niro has been stripped off of the Leadership Award for his speech against Donald Trump.
The Oscar winner was all prepared to receive the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Leadership Foundation’s, “Service to America” Award on 4th June 2024. However, due to his remarks against former president Donald Trump, his name has been withdrawn from the ceremony.

The highest honor by the NBA is given to recognize and appreciate the hard work in the field of charity and public service.
Robert has been supporting numerous charitable trusts, to name a few- FilmAid International, Film Foundation, Friars Foundation Fulfillment Fund, HEART, etc.
His work has proven to be helpful to many in the world, and he continues to inspire many people along the same lines.
WHY DID ROBERT DE NIRO LOSE THE AWARD?
Robert De Niro gave a speech at Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. It took place outside the New York Jury courthouse, where Donald Trump’s trial was being held.
Here he called the 2016 win by Trump a joke and went on to say, “This buffoon running for president. No, never could happen. We have forgotten the lessons of history that showed us other clowns who weren’t taken seriously until they became vicious dictators.”
Following this he also called for action and said, “With Trump, we have a second chance and no one is laughing now. This is the time to stop him by voting him out once and for all.”
He was very vocal about his dislike towards Donald Trump and predicted the country’s future if Trump were to return to the white house. He said, “If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave,”.
Replying to Robert, Trump came on his social media platform, Truth Social, and said, “I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was,”.

A continuous verbal battle between the two has been witnessed for a long time, which fueled the speech on the day of the Jury’s decision.
Last year, Trump commented on the actor and said, “Robert De Niro, whose acting talents have greatly diminished, with his reputation now shot, must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language, so disrespectful to our Country,”. He continued by saying, “De Niro should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others. He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!”
What happened now is the steam finally blowing off from a long-awaited boiling pot.

The National Association of Broadcasters representative told The Hill that- “While we strongly support the right of every American to exercise free speech and participate in civic engagement, it is clear that Mr. De Niro’s recent high-profile activities will create a distraction from the philanthropic work that we were hoping to recognize. To maintain the focus on the service of the award winners, Mr. De Niro will no longer be attending the event.”
The association stands head held up high on the issue. Maintaining the prestige, and position of NAB becomes important in the heat of the moment.
To this, the actor replied, “I support the work of the NAB Leadership Foundation and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for what the Foundation has done and will continue to do for the good of us all, and I wish them well for their continued good work.”
Robert De Niro is aware of his actions and respects the NAB and what they stand for.
This incident is proof of the professionalism and respect the association and the actor have for the industry.
