Recent Announcement by BLACKPINK’s Rosé Sparks Speculation on Contract Renewal with YG Entertainment Among Netizens.

The contract status of BLACKPINK with YG Entertainment is currently a highly discussed topic. While the members’ contracts are nearing their end, the agency has not provided any official statement. Recently, YG Entertainment shared an exciting update regarding member Rosé. The pre-sale for ‘2024’s Season’s Greetings: From Hank & Rose To You,’ featuring special Christmas gifts curated by Rosé, has now commenced.

Reports suggest that BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment reportedly lapsed in August. Nevertheless, there has been no official communication from the agency on this matter. Additionally, there are multiple reports indicating that each member is interested in pursuing solo endeavors. Rosé, a singer and dancer of Korean-New Zealand descent, is currently based in South Korea. She signed with one of the biggest South Korean labels YG Entertainment after a successful audition in 2012. She underwent four years of training before making her debut as a member of the girl group Blackpink in August 2016. Rosé’s most recent solo track, “Gone,” was released in 2021.

About Blackpink

In August 2016, BLACKPINK made their debut with the single album “Square One,” showcasing the tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” These songs marked the group’s inaugural number-one placements on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and the US Billboard World Digital Songs chart. Blackpink significantly broadened their international presence with “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” in 2018. This track made history as the first song by a Korean female group to enter the UK Singles Chart and earn a certification in the United States. The music video for “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” achieved another milestone by becoming the first Korean girl group to surpass one and two billion views on YouTube. The music videos for “Kill This Love” (2019) and “How You Like That” (2020) both made history by achieving the highest number of views within the initial 24 hours of release.

In addition to that, BLACKPINK recently wrapped up their Born Pink World Tour with a final performance at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome in September. The K-pop girl group also unveiled a new song titled “Ready for Love,” which served as a promotional track for their collaboration with the popular video game PUBG. Furthermore, BLACKPINK secured an MTV VMA award in the Best Choreography category, recognizing their exceptional dance work in their album “Pink Venom.”

BLACKPINK’s career has been marked by a series of remarkable achievements. Their Born Pink World Tour (2022–23) stands out as the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group. Additionally, they hold the distinction of having the most-subscribed and most-viewed music artist channel on YouTube and are the most-followed and most-streamed girl group on Spotify. Furthermore, at the MTV Video Music Awards, they clinched the Group of the Year title, solidifying their position as the first girl group to achieve this honor in the 21st century.
