In a significant push towards boosting youth employment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to young recruits in government departments and organizations during a Rozgar Mela on October 29. Conducted via video conferencing, the ceremony underscored the government’s dedication to providing stable government jobs to the youth, particularly in BJP and NDA-ruled states.
Extending his Diwali greetings, PM Modi noted the festival’s unique importance this year, referencing the installation of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya after 500 years. “This Diwali is special as it marks the first since Lord Ram’s installation in his grand temple. Many have awaited and sacrificed for this moment,” he said, adding that this symbolic event underscores the spirit of the festival.
Addressing the recipients of the appointment letters, Modi said, “On this auspicious day, the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters continues our commitment to creating government jobs for youth across India.” Emphasizing transparency, he highlighted that the government’s recruitment efforts remain free of bribery or influence, an approach he believes sets his administration apart.
Taking a closer look at Haryana, the Prime Minister proudly shared that over 26 lakh youth have received job opportunities there, attributing this success to the state’s proactive employment policies under the new government.
Modi also outlined several large-scale infrastructure projects in the works, from expressways to fibre networks, schools and colleges. These projects, he noted, not only improve logistics and accessibility but also create a range of employment opportunities. He cited his recent inauguration of a defence manufacturing facility in Vadodara, which will directly employ thousands and spur related job growth through MSMEs involved in producing components.
The Prime Minister also discussed various initiatives aimed at broader economic impact and job creation, such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which facilitates solar panel installations across the country. With 5 lakh homes already utilizing solar energy, the plan’s target of establishing 800 solar villages promises additional job opportunities.
Additionally, Modi highlighted growth in India’s Khadi industry, which has seen a 400% rise in sales compared to previous administrations. This boost, he noted, directly benefits artisans, weavers and traders, fostering economic growth in rural areas. Complementing this is the Lakhpati Didi scheme, which supports self-help groups (SHGs) in empowering rural women through various income-generating jobs. “Our goal is to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis”, he said, with over a crore women already achieving this financial milestone.
