69 People serving in the Russian army will be released

Russia announced on Saturday that it had stopped accepting new Indian citizens into its armed forces in April of this year and that officials are attempting to get Indian citizens who “voluntarily contracted for military service” out of there sooner.

Indians recruited by the Russian army to fight against Ukraine were killed.India protested against this and demanded the release of the Indian citizens. Then the Russian Embassy informed the Indian Embassy that they had stopped recruiting Indians from April.

Those who voluntarily signed the agreement to become part of Russia’s army and want to return home will soon be handed over to India. Eight of the 91 Indian nationals recruited by the Russian army died. 14 were sent back for various reasons. 69 people are currently in Russia. External Affairs Minister S. Jayashankar said in the Lok Sabha on Friday that they are waiting for their release.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Moscow in July, he brought up the matter with President Vladimir Putin, who gave Modi the assurance that any Indian national serving in the Russian Army would be released and discharged. Jaishankar claimed he had discussed the matter with Sergey Lavrov on multiple occasions.

The two sides opposing points of view were delineated by Jaishankar on Friday. He said, “The issue is that the Russian authorities maintain that these Indian nationals entered into contracts for service with the Russian Army.” We don’t necessarily agree with that.

The speaker proceeded to state that a significant portion of the Indian recruits who had joined the Russian military had been “misled,” “told they were going for some other job,” and “then deployed with the Russian Army.”

According to Jaishankar, out of the 91 Indians recruited in the Russian Army, 14 were either released from service or returned to their home country. Right now, sixty-nine Indian nationals are in the Russian Army waiting to be released.
