Neither of the parties are slightly interested in persisting on the issues of LAC and are intending to resolve them at the earliest. For this, both ministers have shown positive approach towards holding meetings of the diplomatic and military officials so as to come to a productive conclusion. MEA, in an official statement stressed on the need to abide by the bilateral agreements and protocols that are made between the two states throughout the period of time. Respecting LAC and redoubling the efforts to resolve the border issues are the said outcome guidelines from this meet at SCO.

Jaishankar on X

S. Jaishankar said about the three vital ‘Mutuals’ in regard of betterment of the bilateral relation between India and China. He wrote, “Discussed early resolution of remaining issues in border areas. Agreed to redouble efforts through diplomatic and military channels to that end. Respecting the LAC and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas is essential. The three mutuals – mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest – will guide our bilateral ties,” in a post on X. The post was done just after the meet with Chinese counterpart.

Indo-China throughout the years

India and China have had fluctuating relations since a very long time. One of the major reasons of this unsettling wavelength between the two countries is the border issue. Even though both countries share prosperous markets throughout the global economy, there are differences seen in the ideological and geographical spheres. The recent rift was seen at Ladakh in 2020, where 20 Indian troops died in the clash with Chinese soldiers. India’s EAM accused China for breaching the protocols of LAC. The same response was seen from Chinese officials. This tension needs to be resolved for harmonious relations between the two major economies of the world, which can be only done by simultaneous consensus on matters concerning both the states.
