Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared that authenticity is something people are increasingly seeking, and she believes it should be reflected in everything she does, including the brands she associates with. She emphasized that when she speaks about being authentic, it’s not just about her public image, but also the roles she chooses.
Samantha feels a strong sense of responsibility in selecting characters that offer a fair and accurate portrayal of women in today’s society. She pointed out that many films tend to misrepresent women, often defining them through their relationships with male characters, rather than exploring their own journeys, strengths, and challenges.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s opinion
Samantha made a conscious decision to take on roles that showcase women in a more empowering light, just as she does with the brands she endorses. She cited her role in Citadel as an example, where she is portrayed as an equal to the male lead, fighting side by side and contributing equally to the story’s action and progression. “In Citadel, I’m not just the one being saved; I’m saving the day as much as the hero,” she explained, adding that such opportunities in action genres are rare.
However, this commitment to meaningful roles has led to fewer offers. Samantha acknowledged that the number of projects she is considering has become smaller because she is intentionally avoiding roles that lack depth or significance, often referred to as “flower-pot” roles.
