According to the CJI, Raghav Chadha must meet with the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha in order to provide an unconditional apology for the incident. In response, the vice president might adopt a compassionate stance toward the situation as a whole and take additional action in this area.
On August 11, Raghav Chadha was placed under suspension following claims that he neglected to get some MPs’ consent before opting to include them in a proposed select committee.
Chadha has been suspended after a number of MPs, the bulk of whom are members of the BJP, accused him of signing their names to a motion without getting their permission. A select committee was to be established to look at the controversial Delhi Services Bill.
The only accusation against Chadha, according to a bench presided over by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, is that he did not obtain the consent of some MPs before deciding to include them in a draft select committee. The bench asked Attorney General R Venkataramani whether this could be considered as a violation calling for an indefinite suspension.
Venkataramani, the court’s representative in this case, stated that getting the members of a parliamentary panel to agree to be on it is crucial since it elevates the House’s procedures.

The AG claims that Chadha’s comments to the media, in which he suggested that MPs’ names be included on a planned select committee, were like a “birthday invitation card,” also undermining the dignity of the House.
According to PTI, the Supreme Court proposed on Friday that Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha meet with Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and offer his sincere apologies about the controversy surrounding the select committee.
The Rajya Sabha chairman was ordered by the court to evaluate the AAP lawmaker’s apologies and look into a possible resolution.
According to ANI, Chadha’s legal representative claimed to the court that the MP does not intend to diminish the honour of the House in which he sits and that he will make an appointment with the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha in order to offer his sincere apologies.
According to PTI, the court would consider the plea immediately following the Diwali break.
Due to the alleged breach of privilege, Chadha was placed on leave on August 11 during the Monsoon session of Parliament.
As stated above, the 34-year-old AAP politician is charged with failing to get five Rajya Sabha members’ approval before adding their names to a select committee that will review the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023, which aims to reduce the elected AAP government’s authority over services in the Capital.
Following the five MPs’ protest of an alleged breach of privilege, the matter was forwarded to the privileges committee, and Chadha was placed under suspension until the committee’s final report was submitted.
In considering Chadha’s appeal contesting his indefinite suspension, the Supreme Court stated on October 30 that the constitutional court should be deeply concerned about an extended suspension of a member of Parliament, particularly one from the Opposition.
