To celebrate the 107th birthday of her grandmother, Shobhna Samarth, Kajol shared a picture of her from a magazine and talked about how she was the epitome of feminism. She posted a 1944 magazine cover along with a remark about how progressive she was. Tanuja, the mother of Kajol, and Nutan, the actor, were both raised by actress Shobhna, who worked in the 1950s and early talkies.
Kajol shares a heartwarming picture of her grandmother, Shobana Samarth, on her 107th birth anniversary.
Shobhana Samarth was raised as a Hindu after being born Saroj Shilotri in Bombay, British India, on November 17, 1916. She was the only child of “pioneer banker” Prabhakar Shilotri, who founded the Shilotri Bank in Bombay. Rattan Bai appeared in the Marathi film Frontiers of Freedom (Swarajyachya Seemewar) in 1936.
“Orphans Of Society” (1935), also known as Nigahe Nafrat or Vilasi Ishwar for Kolhapur Cinetone, was directed by Vinayak and starred Vinayak and Baburao Pendharkar. The film was not a commercial success, but Shobhana received critical acclaim for her performance. [3][5]
The movie was made in both Urdu and Marathi. Shobhana claims in an interview that she did not know any Urdu at the time of filming and had to memorize the dialogues. She only learned the language later. [4] She worked for Kolhapur Cinetone for thirteen months but only appeared in one film.
She left Kolhapur Cinetone to join Sagar Movietone (Sagar Film Company), where she appeared in the 1937 film Kokila, directed by Sarvottam Badami and starring Motilal, Sabita Devi, and Sitara Devi. Do Diwane (1936), directed by C. M. Luhar and co-starring Motilal, Yakub, and Aruna Devi, was her other film for Sagar. She was well known for her role in Ram Rajya, as Sita.
“On her 107th birthday… here we have the OG Sita, who was and still is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful women in the world,” Kajol captioned a photo of Shobhna on Instagram. She is one of the most astute and forward-thinking women of her generation. Who bought her own close-up filters from the United States when they were not available locally? who understood and successfully managed her daughters’ finances. She did, in fact, play an important role in raising her seven granddaughters. This is authentic feminism! Thank you to everyone who has asked about my meaning and the source of my attitude (emoji with folded hands).
“It is true that Nutan ji is the only one with her grace, beauty, delicateness, and everything,” one of her fans commented on her post. Someone else commented, “Nutan looks like her.” Tanuja’s mother was probably the most attractive woman in your family.”
“A true goddess!” exclaimed one fan. Birthday and Memorial Day greetings. What an illustrious legacy!” “What a stunner!” one person said of her cover photo. “Happy birthday to your grandmother, the most adorable and beautiful lady on the planet,” another fan wrote. “Happy Birthday!” exclaimed another. She was considerably ahead of schedule. “I recently watched some of her older interviews,” another commenter said. What a strong and self-assured woman!”
Fans have been praising Shobana Samarth’s beauty and remembering her birthday since Kajol posted her photo on the internet. Shoabana Samarth was an incredibly inspiring actress.
