We all know how accurately the Simpsons predictions have come true in recent years. Whether talking about Trump winning the 2016 elections or his elevator appearance that shocked everyone, The Simpsons knew it all way before it was supposed to happen. Let’s take a look at the five times when The Simpsons accurately predicted the future.
5 Times The Simpsons accurately predicted the future
Table of Contents
First lady president of the US
The episode 17 of Simpsons season 11 ‘Bart to the Future’ correctly predicted the current scenario of the US presidency in 2024, almost 24 years earlier. The episode showcases Lisa becoming president, also mentioning she had to clean up after Trump. Not only predicting Donald Trump will become president in the future but also hinting about the current scenario where Kamala Harris is said to overtake Biden’s position, becoming the first lady president of the US. In that episode, President Lisa appears in a purple outfit wearing a choker-like necklace, accurately resembling Harris’s purple outfit in 2024.
AI Overtakes
The episode 17 of Season 23 ‘Them Robot’ aired back in 2012, somehow predicting the AI’s threat to the human race pretty early. On the days when no one could even imagine what AI was in their wildest dreams, The Simpsons knew it all. The story of that episode depicts how Homes loses his job because Mr. Burns has replaced all of his employees with robots. He also appears to be saying, “Humans will train robots, and they will replace you.” Which certainly turns out to be true in today’s scenario when the advent of GPT AI has consumed the jobs of several copywriters, proofreaders, translators, financial advisors, and even graphic designers.
Colonizing Mars
Released in March 2016, Simpsons accurately predicted the future of colonizing planet Mars in episode 16 of season 27 ‘The Marge-ian Chronicles. The story of the episode showcases the government looking for volunteers who can move to Mars. Some last seconds of the episode glimpse us into 2051, where the Simpson family is shown comfortably living on Mars. Uncannily, a few years after this episode aired, Elon Musk revealed his plan of colonizing Mars by 2050. Chillingly weird how Simpson’s timeline exactly lines up with Elon’s plan.
Smartwatch and Videochat
The Simpsons’s episode 19 of season 6 ‘Lisa’s Wedding predicted some really high-tech features like smart watches and videochat way back in 1995. Even when the creators couldn’t come up with any such idea, Simpsons predicted the upcoming future technologies 18 years earlier. The episode shows the story of Lisa getting transported to the future to meet her husband, who is shown speaking into his smartwatch. The episode also shows Lisa talking to Marge Simpson on a video chat feature, which came 15 years later in 2010.
Hover Cars
Probably predicted by many other sci-fi creators and even Harry Potter, the Hover Cars technology is not something new, but the Simpsons did it even better. In episode 15 of the Simpsons’s season 16 ‘Future drama,’ Bart and Lisa are shown seeing the future of the Simpson family. Where Bart and Home appear traveling around in a hover car, the episode was released back in 2005. Whereas in recent years, several companies have indeed come up with that technology; one of such is ‘Samson Sky,’ but the most unexpected part is how closely their model resembles The Simpsons.
