Under the National Industrial corridor development Program , the Union Cabinet has approved 12 new industrial smart Cities with an Investment of Rs.28602 Crore in order to accelerate Domestic Manufacturing and development of Economy . This initiation will increase the total number of Industrial Cities in India to 20 including the eight cities which are currently in process
The cities are planned to be launched in different states with a prime motive of increasing inland production, said Ashwini Vaishnaw , Minister of information and Broadcasting . He also added that this project aims to transform India’s Industrial Landscapes
Out of 12 Industrial cities , two of them are planned to launch in Andhra Pradesh and one in Bihar .The Budget has included the development of ” Plug and Play” Industrial parks in or near 100 cities in collaboration with the states and Private sectors
Here is the list of the cities where the 12th city’s name is kept unknown due to some election crises in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana :
- Rajpura , Patiala
- Khurpia , Uttarakhand
- Agra , Uttar Pradesh
- Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
- Gaya , Bihar
- Dighi Port , Maharashtra
- Jodhpur Pali Marwar
- Kopparthy, Telangana
- Zaheerabad, Telangana
- Orvakal Andhra Pradesh
- Pallakad, Kerala
- Unknown City in J&K or Haryana

These new Smart cities are launched with an aim of increasing India’s role in Global Supply Chain by providing ‘Ready to allot’ land for Investors which was made possible through “Walk and work” and ‘Plug and Park “concepts . These cities will hold the feature of planned Urbanisation, robust and renewable infrastructure which will attract investors . This plan is also aimed at providing 10 lakhs Direct jobs and 30 Lakh Indirect jobs .It holds an investment potential of 1.5 lakh crore
