Smriti Irani finds it extremely strange that Congress, specifically Rahul Gandhi, has not announced its candidate from Amethi.
Amethi is important for Congress
Rahul Gandhi has represented the constituency of Amethi Since 2004. Amethi has been the hotbed for Congress and it was represented by Rahul Gandhi from a very long time. In 2019, Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi constituency. From then The Congress has been really interested to win it’s constituency back. If Rahul Gandhi does not represent Amethi,then all the eyes will be on the person who is standing as a candidate from the constituency.
Smriti Irani says Amethi is no longer a “Congress Bastion”
The Congress’s delay to announce its Candidate from the Amethi constituency has lead to Smriti Irani think that Congress doesn’t have confidence of winning seats from the constituency. She further adds that If he is contesting from 2 seats, means that he has accepted his Defeat from Amethi. She also adds that If Rahul Gandhi has the courage he should contest election from Amethi without any support by Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav and the truth will come out. She also Told her contributions made for the constituency in terms of Development.
Amethi Has been kept Away from Development
Amethi, who has been the “Congress Bastion” since the 80s has been kept from development. Gandhi Family has always been getting the needed support since 1967 because of it’s name related to Nehru-Gandhi. In 2019, the tables turned as Smriti Irani won from the Amethi constituency. For the 2024 Election everyone is keen to know Congress candidate, and it’s speculated that Rahul Gandhi will stand as the candidate but the Political Party is delaying to give it’s name.
Gandhi Family ‘Naamdars’
Smriti Irani while talking to the media said that, she came into Amethi Politics since 2014, but did not get the support from them and lost to the ‘Naamdars’. She still kept serving the people and in 2019, the people of Amethi gave her a chance to work for them.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to make a Debut in Elections
As Sonia Gandhi has already announced that she won’t be contesting Elections this time from Raebareli due to health and age issues, Sonia Gandhi since then has been elected to Rajya Sabha for the seat of Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister and currently member of the Rajya Sabha. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is expected to contest from the Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh. If Priyanka Gandhi stands from the constituency it’ll be her debut in the Elections.
