State of Emergency in New York after Flash floods

Flash floods have caused a State of emergency in New York as the city experiences horrible flash floods. The city’s subway systems, streets and highways have flooded and terminal at an airport closed on Friday. 

Governor Hochul said it’s a dangerous life threatening situation and so it is declared a state of emergency. She announced it on her X formerly known as Twitter page. 

She asked the people to stay safe and not to travel on flooded roads. 

Flooding caused major disruption across the cities and it was difficult to move on streets. 

Pictures and videos show people walking on flooded streets. 

Many videos show water pouring from the ceiling of subway stations. 

As the city gets inundated with water the mayor of the city asked residents to stay indoors. Flash floods pose the biggest threat to those living in basement Dwellings. 

The State of basement dwellers after Flash floods

As flash floods become death traps for the basement dwellers. Many calls from basement Dwellers for rescue have been received. 

Flash floods in New York spark the debate of climate change. 

Many residents died when hurricane Ida hit the city two years ago. 

Mayor Adams has promised shelters to those who needed them. As a major population of New York resides in these basement shelters. 

Two years ago Storm due to Hurricane Ida had destroyed the city and there were many deaths reported among basement dwellers. 

The video footage of that day had shown many rescue efforts of residents where officers walked in  Chest high waters but due to electric wires were forced to retreat and call for backup and by the time they reached the residents , two of them had died and in a total of 10 residents were dead. 

Flash floods have sparked the controversies of climate change which is surely making its impact on the world’s major cities.

Flooding in New York resulted in turning streets into lakes and making children shift to upper floors of their schools. Flooding has disrupted the normal life of the place causing people to panic. The officials have warned the residents to stay indoors and safe as the place returns to normalcy after the floods.
