Amad started playing Football with his brother in the streets of Abidjan. The player was once accused of fake documentations but now he is the fan favourite. The sensational talent of Man United, Amad Diallo has the potential to be the face of the club in near future.
Past
Amad was born on 11th July 2002, in the small city of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Being from the same country as Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba, as a kid Amad had dreams of playing in the top level of football since the beginning. He obtained a passion in football by watching his friends and brother playing, also whenever asked about his non-biological mother he credited her as well.
Amad moved to Italy at the age of 10 along with his brother. He started his career in a small team called Boca Barco and within a few months joined the Atalanta youth. In the 19/20 season Amad played for Atalanta BC main team and despite not having any massive contributions got picked by the English giants in 2020.
The player had ‘Traore’ as his second name which he got from his father. Amad was caught up in a controversy related to his name when it was confirmed that his parents were not biologically related to him. Later he removed the surname and decided to continue with the name Amad Diallo.
In 2021 when Ole Gunnar Solskjær was the manager at United the African youngster was bought in as a future investment. However Amad did not get many appearances and was transferred to the Scottish club Rangers where he got 3 goals in 13 games. After an unsuccessful spell Amad was loaned out once again but this time to the Championship side Sunderland. The Sunderland move turned out to be successful for him with a lot of game time and played 43 games to get 18 goal contributions.
Under Eric Ten Hag, Amad was brought back to United after the loan and was a part of the plan. The player still did not get much backing as players like Garnacho, Rashford were preferred above him.
Present
Amad came into the spotlight after the winner he scored against Liverpool in the FA cup Semi-Final. In the 23/24 season he did not get much game time but fans were hopeful for his inclusion in the upcoming season.
Although Amad Diallo has been on loan mostly in his United tenure, 2024 seems to be the year when the world gets to see who he is. With the arrival of the new manager he already has 10 G/A in 23 games and is a part of the regular playing squad. Amad’s dedication can be acknowledged by his body language and his commitment towards the club. Recently when asked about his preferred position in the team he said “ I will play wherever the manager wants me .”
In this whole career the attacker has produced some appreciable statistics as well. 68 goals and 40 assists in just 203 games at just 22, the world needs to consider him a serious competitor to the big names like Rodrygo.
Has a Key Role in the current squad under Ruben Amorim, the player can play at any positions. As a wing back, as an inside forward, as a striker, just give him the role and he will play it without any complaint. Especially if Rashford and Garnacho cannot pave their way into the playing 11, Amad becomes a very important figure for the Portuguese Manager.
Future
Diallo has the potential to become a World Class player. Right treatment, right company and Right process can help him level up and compete with the names of Saka. Being a core team member in the new project, Amad has the pressure to prove himself and make his spot permanent at the club.
Currently valued at around €25m (transfermarkt) the youngster can boost his value up massively within just a few seasons. Although not a player to sell but definitely a sellable asset.
Turning wingers into Wing backs, Ruben Amorim has done this before and has been successful. Amad is definitely a part of Amorim’s new United where he plays as a wing back and also as an attacking midfielder sometimes.
Hype and form are just temporary but class is permanent. Amad can definitely be the face of the new Manchester United if he is able to showcase his class in front of the fans consistently.
