The Met Gala or Met Ball is formally known as the Costume Institute Gala or Costume Institute Benefit. It is an annual fundraising gala benefiting the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art ,Manhattan.

The Met Gala is the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event and social gathering, also known as “fashion’s biggest night”. An invitation is highly desirable.

The Met Gala, organized by the fashion magazine Vogue, invites personalities who are perceived to be culturally relevant to contemporary society from a variety of professional spheres like fashion, film, television, theatre, music,sports,business, social media, and politics. The cost of attending the annual gala in New York City, the world’s primary financial center, has risen from $50,000 in 2023 to $75,000 in 2024.

The biggest night in fashion has arrived! The Met Gala red carpet, 2024 has officially begun at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” looks at how technology can bring new life to garments that are too old and fragile to wear again.

Tonight, guests will ascend the museum’s famed steps in outfits inspired by the event’s “The Garden of Time” dress code, and you can see all of the Met Gala looks of 2024 right here as the night emerges.

The night’s sartorial theme is based on a J.G. Ballard story about a count who, in order to keep an angry mob from approaching his castle, cuts a rose from his garden to slow down time until the garden loses all of its roses.

Given the dystopian themes of the story and the exhibit is focus on the old and new, we can anticipate a red carpet decked out in everything from techno-inspired clothing to floral arrangements, perhaps with a nod to Sleeping Beauty.

The gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute, has a notoriously secretive guest list. We do know that Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya—who co-chairs the event with Anna Wintour of Vogue—will be there, even though the attendees’ identities are being kept under wraps. 1.Lana del Ray in Alexander MCqueen.

The colour of the dress itself takes us back to the old time. The lifeless branches, the cobweb draped above it makes it apt to the theme. Creativity wise it’s on the top.

2.Nicki Minaj

When we think about a garden , what comes to mind? Green leaves and flowers of various bright colours. Nicki’s costume is such a mood lifting vibe mixed with the little fairy tinker bell.

3.Gwendoline christie

The costume, the attitude, the aura everything together gives Maleficent from Disney animated “sleeping Beauty” vibe. 

4.Zendaya

The combination of colours, the little details of green and round fruits that may be edible or poisonous.the dark lipstick. The way she is pulling off, A total yes!

5.Sydney sweeney

powder-blue Miu Miu’s Cinderella-inspired gown features sheer romantic sleeves and a large skirt. The piece was decorated with black twigs and turquoise flower appliqués throughout.

Sweeney completed the edgy springtime look with a pair of black leather opera gloves—and the cherry on top was her sleek black bob.

She added sparkle with stunning diamond jewellery from De Beers, including Sleeper drop earrings  and a matching Assana necklace. The diamonds complemented her shimmery makeup, which included silver glitter smeared across her face and neck.

6.Haris reed 

Reed’s design made its runway debut in February as part of the “Shadow Dance” collection for the fall of 2024.

The fact that all of the wallpaper is upcycled. That is, in my opinion, a very unique perspective on the concept of decay and fragility.the fabric used in the dress is delicate fabric that rips easily, but it takes up a lot of space and is very graphic. 

7.Demi Moore

Moore wore a stunning Cartier necklace with her dress, which was made from a 60-year-old silk panel with arrow-like spikes.

8.Amelia Grey

The look, styled by Danyul Brown and accessorized with Messika jewelry, was perfect for the red carpet theme of “The Garden of Time,” and it also fit in with the Costume Institute exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion,” which is being honored at this year’s Met Gala. Visitors to the exhibition will notice that another of the terrarium dresses, also featuring roses, is prominently displayed and even appears on the exhibition posters.

Takahashi described the spring 2024 collection as “deep mist wrapped in transparency.” “Garments flow like a fading memory; a surreal world that appears and disappears in the dark.” It is a sentiment that could not be more appropriate for this year’s theme—and one that Hamlin completely nailed on her first Met Gala red carpet.

9. Tyla

Tyle wore a sculpture of her own body that was made of sand. The year’s theme corresponded with the hourglass purse she carried. 

The idea of ephemerality for Tyla’s dress particularly attracted Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, who wanted to push boundaries and turn a temporary material into a timeless work of art.

10.Gigi hadid

Hadid is dressed in a white off-the-shoulder corset dress with exaggerated hips, which is layered underneath a white silk moiré coat with black duchesse satin tipping and 3D yellow roses. The entire look, which was meticulously crafted by a team of over 70 individuals over the course of 13,500 hours, will be preserved in Browne’s permanent archive after the Met Gala.

Mimi Cuttrell, Hadid’s stylist, was inspired by garden statues adorned with plants, specifically the ancient Italian gardens. She adores how the light reflects beautiful yellow tones against the stone, which inspired the design of yellow jewelry to complement Giggi’s look.
