Astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore arrived at the International Space Station on 5th June on Boeing’s Starliner spaceship. They were expected to return back on Earth in the spacecraft in 8-10 days.

However, their arrival got delayed till February and now they remained stuck at the International Space Station, along with helium leaks and thruster issues.

NASA administrator Bill Nelson announced that the Starliner will return without any crew; meanwhile, the two astronauts will come back on the SpaceX capsule in February.

He also said that, “Space flight is risky even at its safest and even at its most routine.”

On being asked about the decision on bringing the Starliner without a crew, he said, “The move to return the Starliner without Williams and Wilmore is the result of our commitment to safety as our core value is safety.”
