About Spanish Super Cup

The Spanish Super Cup, also known as the Supercopa de España, is an annual football competition in Spain that combines the winners of La Liga and Copa del Rey from the previous season. Real Madrid won Copa Del Rey and Barcelona won La Liga this year.

The event kicked off the Spanish football season, placing the country’s premier clubs against one another in a battle for supremacy. Since its debut in 1982, it has been an important element of Spanish football.

Sweet revenge for Real Madrid

Vinícius Jr. scored a hat-trick in the opening 40 minutes, giving Real an early lead. Rodrygo’s second-half strike sealed the victory.

Madrid was able to exact sweet revenge after being crushed 3-1 by Barcelona in the 2023 competition.

Barcelona was the reigning champions of the Spanish Super Cup with 14 titles.

Robert Lewandowski scored Barcelona’s sole goal of the finals of Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Saudi Arabia.

Vinícius Jr.’s Hatrick

Vinícius Jr. scores three goals in the first half to help Real Madrid win the Spanish Super Cup over Barcelona.

It was a special hatrick for the 23-year-old Brazilian player, as

“The celebration was for Cristiano, who is my idol and is playing here now,”

Ronald Araújo red card

Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo received a red card and had to exit the game. This made things harder for Barcelona.

Barcelona’s defence was reduced to 10 men after Ronald Araújo’s red card in the 71st minute.

After falling behind, Barcelona had its chances, with Ferran Torres’ looping effort hitting the crossbar and Lewandowski’s follow-up saved by Madrid custodian Andriy Lunin.

Torres was also denied by Lunin later in the half, before the defending league champion broke through in the 33rd minute. Lewandowski scored a stunning volley from the edge of the area to put Barcelona back in the game at 2-1.

Vinícius quickly scored a hat-trick, ending any possibility of a comeback. Araújo was found to have pulled the Brazilian down in the penalty area, and Vinícius converted the resulting spot-kick to give Real a 3-1 lead.

With that Real Madrid won its 13th Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, defeating arch-rival Barcelona 4-1 in El Clásico. The highlight of the match was Vinicius Junior’s Hat-trick.
