Security forces have been deployed extensively to prevent any escape routes for the militants involved in Monday’s attack. As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have detained approximately 60 individuals for questioning. Among those detained, suspicions are particularly high regarding three individuals who allegedly provided food and shelter to the terrorists. Notably, one woman is also under investigation for allegedly preparing and providing meals to one of the suspects.
Officials revealed that the quantity of food prepared was sufficient to sustain 10 to 15 individuals, raising concerns that the provisions were intended for the terrorists. This development underscores the critical role of local support networks in sustaining militant activities in the region.
In a joint meeting held in Kathua, senior police officials from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, along with Border Security Force (BSF) officers, discussed security measures along the international border (IB). The meeting focused on devising a coordinated strategy to tackle cross-border infiltration and counter terrorist activities in the border areas adjoining Punjab and Jammu regions.
Authorities have also highlighted an increased risk of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the region, prompting heightened vigilance among troops involved in the search operations. The search efforts have been expanded across the mountainous regions of Kathua, Udhampur, and Doda districts, where terrorist incidents have escalated since June.
To reinforce the security grid, units from the 9 Corps have bolstered their presence in Kathua’s hilly terrains, while the 16 Corps’ Delta Force has been deployed in Udhampur and Doda districts, augmenting the strength of operational forces. Special units equipped with search dogs have also been deployed to assist in locating potential hideouts and tracking movement in the dense jungles and rugged terrains.
Officials emphasized the challenges faced by soldiers operating in these areas, including adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain and fog. Despite these challenges, security agencies remain steadfast in their commitment to securing the region and thwarting terrorist activities.
The ongoing operations reflect the Indian Army’s resolve to maintain peace and stability in the volatile region, while also underscoring the persistent threat posed by militant elements operating in and around the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The incidents highlight the need for continuous vigilance and a coordinated approach among security agencies to neutralize threats and ensure the safety of civilians and armed forces personnel alike.
The resolve to combat terrorism remains unwavering, with a renewed determination to root out terrorist networks and secure the borders of the nation.
The coming days will be critical in determining the effectiveness of the ongoing operations and the broader strategy to counter terrorism in the region. The government’s response and the military’s actions will be closely watched as the nation seeks justice for the fallen soldiers and strives for lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
