Swati Maliwal – Allegations and Internal Party Dynamics
Maliwal accuses unknown persons of intimidating her which she hints resulted into some trust issues in the organization. “This goon threatens our party. If I’m arrested, I will expose everything,” she suggested, meaning that there are rifts within their camp. Maliwal further noted the inconsistency within the party’s stance, claiming that leaders who joined recently labeled her a BJP agent, contradicting the party’s earlier acceptance of her position.
Despite the allegations, Maliwal remains resolute. “Never mind; I’ve fought alone for women all over India; I’ll fight for myself as well,” she said stressing that despite what people say to defame her character, she would continue doing it till the end. Moreover, she believed that truth would ultimately prevail.
AAP’s Allegations of a BJP Conspiracy
The AAP has recently accused the BJP of plotting against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The party says that the Swati Maliwal assault case is a part of this conspiracy and refers to her as one of the conspirators. The accusation is in response to an FIR filed by Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal assistant, for allegedly physically assaulting Maliwal at the CM’s residence.
Atishi, an elder AAP leader also pointed out differences between Maliwal’s FIR and a video clip posted on social media outlets. In the video Maliwal can be seen seated comfortably contradicting her claims of being assaulted. Atishi also mentioned that Kumar had filled his complaint against Maliwal accusing her of misbehavior and unlawfully entering into CM’s residential section.
BJP’s Response: Allegations of Character Assassination
The BJP has accused AAP of subjecting their own party colleague to “Charitra Haran” (character assassination). BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized AAP’s handling of the situation, likening it to the disrobing of Draupadi in the Mahabharata. He also accused the party of disinformation and highlighted past incidents of mistreatment of women within AAP.
Amidst the controversy, Delhi Police arrested Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s aide, in connection with the alleged assault on Maliwal. Kumar had emailed the police expressing his willingness to cooperate in the investigation while also urging them to consider his complaint against Maliwal. The police have recorded statements from multiple witnesses present at the CM’s residence during the incident.
This case has presented varying narratives and videos, making the situation complicated which made the party to need more questions. Atishi, a senior AAP leader again repeated that it was actually a BJP plot to bring Kejiriwal down with Maliwal being coerced into participating in this.
Swati Maliwal assault case reveals deep political undercurrents and internal strife within AAP in addition to accusations of a BJP conspiracy. This explains why there are differing accounts and footages on this matter as investigations continue complicating the issue indicating fierce rivalry among politicians and challenges faced by them all.
