Announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a visit to Chisinau, this financial support aims to reduce Moldova’s dependency on Russian energy and enhance its democratic resilience. President Maia Sandu thanked the U.S. for the assistance, emphasizing its crucial role in diversifying Moldova’s energy sources and supporting economic stability. This aid package is part of broader U.S. efforts to support Eastern European nations facing increased Russian pressure as they pursue closer ties with the European Union.
