The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has declared ‘The Sabarmati Report’ exempt from state taxes. CM Yogi and his team watched the film together on Thursday.
Why Tax Exemption?
This decision is in line with similar tax exemptions granted in other states ruled by the BJP, where the film was also made without taxes.
Following the movie, CM Yogi highlighted the need for a wider audience to understand the film’s perspective on the truth behind the incident.
In a commendation, the UP Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the film’s creators, stating, “I extend my congratulations to the entire crew of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ for their dedication in revealing the ‘real truth’ and exposing individuals and stories that are fueling societal rifts for political gains.”
He also praised the film, saying, “The Sabarmati Express incident involving the Kar Sevaks returning from Ayodhya by the Sabarmati Express near Godhra railway station is well-known. Efforts to conceal the truth have been unsuccessful, and it has been brought to light. Despite this, many continue to deny it. There’s an urgent need to confront such denial. This film is a significant step towards doing so. Similar actions should be taken to illuminate every event that damages our country and society,” Yogi added.
The event was graced by the Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, BJP Members of Legislative Assembly, and the film’s lead actors, Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna. The CM, in particular, chose to sit at the very back of the theater during the screening.
The film has been exempted from taxes in various other states, including Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
‘The Sabarmati Report’ is centered around the Sabarmati Express train fire. The devastating event took place on February 27, 2002, when a group of individuals ignited the S6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near the Godhra railway station in Gujarat.
In the movie, the lead actor portrays a Hindi journalist who challenges the system to ensure the truth is reported accurately.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by a team including Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, the film is currently showing in theaters.

Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue. If you have any suggestions, please share. Many thanks!
