Bollywood actor Sajid Khan, known for his renowned acting as a child artist of Sunil Dutt’s Birju in Mehboob Khan’s masterpiece movie “Mother India”, and later showcase his talent in an international cinema’s platform such as “Maya” has passed away on 22 December due incurable stage of cancer in Alappuzha. He was 71 years old.
He played a major role in the parallel cinema revolution in India. He was laid to rest in peace at Kayamkulam Juma Masjid Kabristan, currently situated in Alappuzha, in Kerala. To pay respect to his soul his second wife Sanjusha Khan, his son Sameer Khan from his first wife and others visit that place.
Khan’s second wife Sanjusha Khan, a resident of Kayamkulam’s Chapped said in her interview that Sajid Khan loved Alappuzha and Kerala and came to visit this place many times in early 20th century. When Sanjusha Khan worked in Keraleeyam Resort which is owned by SD pharmacy for Ayurveda medical treatment, once Sajid visited that place, they met and fell in love with each other. They got married in 2007 with the permission of his first wife Seenath and their son Sameer Khan.
She mentioned he used to travel India to South Africa where his first wife Seenath settled, though she belonged to a Gujarati family, her parents settled in South African country Malawi. After marrying Sajid Khan, she started living in India then Malawi. They maintain a healthy relationship. Sajid Khan was suffering from cancer for the past few months in Parumala and he wished to be buried in his favourite place Alappuzha.
To fulfil Sajid’s last wish his son Sameer decided to grave him in Alappuzha. However it was hard for him to contact any mosque in Alappuzha, because he has no relatives here, lastly he contacted Kayamkulam Juma Masjid Kabristan and they agreed to bury Khan there.
Sajid’s son Sameer said that it was hard for him to bid farewell to his father who was an luminary actor in Indian cinema, who left an incredible mark on the entertainment industry with his contribution.

Sajid Khan Career:
Sajid Khan born on 28 December 1951. He was an adopted son of Rajkumar Pitamber Rana and Sunita Pitamber. He belongs to a poor family from slums of Bombay and then Bombay State. Later he was fostered by Bollywood filmmaker Mehboob Khan, founder of Mehboob Studios and his wife Sardar Akhtar who named him Sajid.
He started his acting career in his father’s product as a child artist of Sunil Dutt’s character Birju in Mehboob Khan’s Oscar nominated film “Mother India ” in 1957. Then in 1962, he played the leading role in Son of India which was Mehboob Khan’s last film. Though that film didn’t have blockbuster success in theatres, his acting was praised by the audiences. After Mehboob’s death, he moved to the US for further studies.
In 1966 he worked in a supporting role with actor Jay North in “Maya ” which gave him fame. This film later telecast as a television series with a name which was airing on NBC in between September, 1967 to February, 1968. This series made Sajid the “Teen Idol” for a short time. He also had a career in singing and released his self named albums. He also worked in several Philippines’s romantic- comedy films named “The Prince and I ” opposite Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos and “The Singing Filipina”, “My Funny Girl”.However after the 1970s, his Hindi acting career was almost over when he opened a small retailing store named Artistic which made costume jewellery.
Later he also worked as a guest judge in a musical show named “It’s Happening” and as a guest appearance in some American TV named “The Big Valley”. In the Merchant-Ivory production’s film “Heat and Dust” he played the role of a dacoit chief.
On his death rumours Bollywood Director Sajid Khan on 28th December wrote an Instagram post sharing the news of his death and expressed his sorrow of Khan’s death.
