Agastya Nanda on his Character as Archies

Agastya Nanda, who is stepping into the shoes of the iconic Archie Andrews, recently shared insights into how he relates to his character. In an interview with India Today, he made it clear that he’s not a “casanova,” a term often associated with Archie. Instead, Agastya emphasized his shared love for music with his character as a commonality. He explained that music serves as a conduit for emotions, much like how it does for Archie in the series.

“I wouldn’t call myself a casanova,” Agastya stated. “Something that we do share in common is our love for music because it helps you deal with a lot of emotions, and that’s where we are kind of similar. I’m not a casanova.”

Agastya’s journey into the world of “The Archies” was not one he actively pursued. He credited filmmaker Zoya Akhtar for selecting him for the role through a rigorous audition process. Being a part of a Netflix project that would be accessible in 190 countries simultaneously was an exhilarating prospect for him. Agastya expressed his excitement about the opportunity, noting that the camaraderie among the cast and crew had turned them into his closest friends.

Speaking about his role model, Agastya fondly mentioned his late grandmother, Ritu Nanda. He described her as a person who exuded warmth and positivity, traits he aspires to embody. He shared his desire to spread positivity and love to those around him, just as his grandmother did.

The family lineage of Agastya Nanda is deeply rooted in the Indian film industry. He is the son of Nikhil Nanda and Shweta Bachchan, with a sister named Navya Naveli Nanda. His maternal grandparents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, are iconic figures in Bollywood, adding to the rich tapestry of his family’s cinematic legacy.

Khushi Kapoor, on the other hand, steps into the role of Betty Cooper in “The Archies.” During the India Today Mumbai Conclave 2023, she was asked if she shares any similarities with her character. Khushi responded positively, saying, “I’d like to think so. She feels they were cast in this role because of the similarities the actors have to the characters. She explained the traits she identifies with in Betty, emphasizing Betty’s sweetness, empathy, sensitivity, and caring nature.
