On Monday, the Congress women’s wing’s president Alka Lamba demanded Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna be deported to India from Germany. The group said that they wanted the chief minister to write to the Minister of External Affairs to have this criminal sent back to India from Germany.

The congress in Bengaluru held protests demanding immediate arrest. This event took place after the news broke out of the Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna’s involvement in sexual assault. In Hassan district, obscene videos are going around showing women who seem to have been sexually attacked. These videos are almost three thousand in number with hundreds of women exploited.

Alka Lamba stated that this horrendous act and sexual violence against hundreds of innocent women has shaken the nation. The sexual violence inflicted on innocent women has exposed Prajwal Revanna’s dark side. However, Lamba criticized both the BJP and the JD(S) for their appalling silence and indifference towards this horrific case. She even added that BJP and JD(S) leaders were aware of Prajwal’s crimes.

Later in the day, during a press briefing at the party’s headquarters, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate accused Mr. Prajwal of molesting women across various age groups. She said that these women include domestic workers, party activists, MPs, whose lives have been shattered by him. She expressed that these videos depict how hundreds of women have suffered because of him. One of the videos shows a 63-year-old woman, old enough to be his mother or grandmother, pleading with him.

She highlighted that on December 13, 2023, BJP leader Devaraj Gowda wrote to the Prime Minister, the BJP president, and the local BJP unit regarding this issue and later held a press conference in January this year. During Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the State to finalize the alliance, BJP leaders Preetham Gowda, A.T. Ramaswamy, and others attempted to dissuade him from it, she added.

The spokesperson emphasized that on the 14th of April, the Prime Minister was observed sharing the stage with him. Not only did he praise him, but he also urged people to vote for him. “That’s who the Prime Minister supports!” Ms. Shrinate emphasized.

“Is this the first time the Prime Minister has aligned with those accused of crimes against women? No. Will it be the last? Probably not,” she concluded.

In a post on X, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra mentioned how the PM is seen with a leader whom he recently campaigned for and praised on stage, but who is now reportedly missing from the country.

Priyanka Gandhi expressed her sadness over the disturbing allegations against Prajwal, emphasizing the devastating impact on many women’s lives. She then questioned whether PM Modi would stay silent in response to these troubling events.

Jairam Ramesh, a Congress general secretary, pointed out that a BJP leader had previously alerted the party leadership about Prajwal Revanna’s alleged wrongdoings in December 2023. Ramesh criticized the Prime Minister for endorsing Prajwal despite knowing about these accusations, highlighting a recurring pattern in the Prime Minister’s associations with figures like Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Kuldeep Sengar, and now Prajwal Revanna.

The JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year. Prajwal is the NDA candidate in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which held elections on April 26. According to police sources, he allegedly fled the country after voting as the videos implicating him started to emerge.
