All the participating teams have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup. The list of injured players is quite long, and many players will be missing the World Cup because of fitness issues and injuries. India’s Rishabh Pant, Pakistan’s Naseem Shah, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal, England’s Jason Roy, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, and other star players didn’t make it to the 15-member squad.

On September 5, India announced their 15-member squad for the World Cup. India’s squad is as follows: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubham Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav.

India will start the Cricket World Cup as the ICC’s number-one-ranked ODI side. India are favorites for the World Cup, and their side looks strong with all the players in form. Star opener Shubham Gill has the most runs in ODIs in 2023 and is in the form of his life. Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul made strong comebacks in the Asia Cup and the recently concluded ODI series with Australia. The star player, Axar Patel’s place is in doubt as he got injured in the Asia Cup. In his place, Washington Sundar can be picked up as a replacement.

After the warm-up matches, the Men’s Cricket World Cup will commence with the winners of the 2019 Men’s Cricket World Cup England clashing with the runner-up of the 2019 World Cup New Zealand on October 5.

India has not won any ICC trophy in the span of the last ten years. The last instance of India winning an ICC trophy was in 2013 when India won the Champions Trophy in England. If India wins this World Cup, it will be the third Cricket World Cup trophy for India, and with that, it will also end the ten-year drought of an ICC trophy.
