The USA – Canada – India Dispute Triangle

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations against India to which the Ex-Pentagon officer of the USA responded stating “Trudeau made a huge mistake”. Justin Trudeau’s statement against India has caused a huge dispute among Canada and India.

The Ex- Pentagon officer also revealed that, If the United States of America were to be obligated to choose a country, The US government would without a question choose India over Canada.

The dispute between India-Canada began when the Canadian PM made an accusation that India had an active involvement in the death of the Canadian citizen and Khalistan terrorist – Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This stirred up a dispute between the two countries.

USA’s Response to the on-going Dispute –

The White House showed great concern when the Canadian PM made public allegations against India. The former defense official of the United States voiced that the Canadian PM made a huge mistake by making those accusations.

Following the Former defense officers statement, India’s former foreign secretary Vikas Swarup then made a comment saying “Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, Let the truth come out”

Mr. Swarup also requested Ottawa to take immediate action towards deescalating the conflict and “to let the truth come out”.

Anthony Blinken the Secretary of State of the United States has publicly suggested India to aid Canada in its probe of the sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

According to the US Secretary of State, the American administration is “closely consulting” and “coordinating” with its Canadian counterparts on the issue at hand. According to Blinken, it is necessary that the Canadian investigation continue and that “India works with Canada” on this matter.

India’s Response to the PM’s Allegations:

In response to these allegations, India scaled back the amount of its official employees in Canada and halted visa services. In an effort to strengthen its relationship with India, the United States expressed concern. But why did India do so?

Both sides dismissed a diplomatic representative from their respective nations after India furiously rejected the accusations as “absurd and motivated.” Since then, India has requested to reduce the number of Canadian ambassadors stationed in New Delhi and has halted the issuance of visas to Canadian citizens, citing the threat of “anti-India activities”. The claims have been branded “politically motivated” by India.

Additionally, India has called Canada a “haven of safety” for terrorists and extremists and urged it to step down strongly on any anti-Indian groups operating on its territory. Sukhdool Singh Gill, a wanted criminal and terrorist from the Khalistan region, was shot and killed in Winnipeg on September 20. Authorities announced his demise on Thursday.

His murderer, Lawrence Bishnoi, who is presently incarcerated in Delhi, took responsibility for it. Bishnoi said in a Facebook post that the Sukhdool was reportedly responsible for the deaths of many members of other gangs. Less than 24 hours had passed since the National Investigative Agency (NIA) had released a list of wanted offenders who either lived in India or had left. At that point, there had been reports of his murder.

Although the Canadian PM Justin Trudeau made the allegations, Canada has no evidence as of now to back up Trudeau’s allegations. As of right now, no one has been taken into custody by Canadian police in relation to Nijjar’s killing. However, the police had announced in August, declaring that they were actively looking into three prospective criminals.
