Tragic News: ‘Dangal’ Star Suhani Bhatnagar Dies at the age of 19

‘Dangal’ actor Suhani Bhatnagar who played young Babita Phogat in the movie, dies at the age of 19, on February 16, 2024, in Delhi. She suffered from a rare disease called, ‘Dermatomyositis’, which causes a rare kind of skin rashes and muscle weakness. She also had a fracture in her leg a few weeks ago.

She was admitted to AIIMS or All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, on February 7, 2024, and diagnosed with ‘Dermatomyositis’. However due to her damaged lungs and fluid accumulation, her condition eventually worsened with time, and she took her last breath on Friday. Her funeral rites took place at the Ajronda cremation ground in Delhi on Saturday.

Suhani Bhatnagar was born on January 17, 2005, in Faridabad, Haryana. She made her debut as a young actor in 2016. She played the role of young Babita Phogat, the daughter of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat played by popular Bollywood actor Amir Khan.

She also appeared in a few commercials in previous years. She wanted to restart her career as an actor after completing graduation. She was a brilliant student and topper in her college semester. She received a Best Child Actor award for her performance in ‘Dangal’.

Suhani Bhatnagar’s father Sumit Bhatnagar spoke about his daughter who developed red spots on her hands, two months ago and they thought it was just an allergy. Then they consulted with doctors in different hospitals in Faridabad but it couldn’t be diagnosed. When her condition started deteriorating, they got her admitted to AIIMS. But there was no improvement and her lungs were eventually damaged due to accumulation of excess fluid.

Amir Khan’s production house also expressed sorrow and sent condolences to the family. They shared on a post that they are deeply saddened to hear about dear Suhani passing away. They send heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji and the entire family. Such a talented young girl, and a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without her. Suhani will always remain a star in everyone’s hearts and she may rest in peace.

Her mother also told about her struggle during these two months. Amir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan also reacted to a post by saying “Oh, no”. Her co-actors from ‘Dangal’ also expressed their sadness over the young actor’s death. Fans are mourning, sending condolences, and pouring tributes by sharing her memories. As we know, she will always live in all of our hearts. May she rest in peace and god gives strength to her parents and family.
